Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
THE GLOBAL FATHERHOOD ANNUAL AWARD WAS A HUGE HIT. THE CREATION OF THIS AWARD HAD THE POTENTIAL TO PROMOTE GENDER EQUALITY IN PARENTING, EFFECTIVE FATHERING PRACTICES, AND A GREATER UNDERSTANDING OF THE VALUE OF BOTH PARENTS' ROLES. IT MIGHT ALSO BE A PLACE TO HIGHLIGHT GREAT EXAMPLES OF FATHERHOOD AND ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO FOLLOW SUIT. THE ULTIMATE MEASURE OF A GLOBAL FATHERHOOD AWARD'S SUCCESS WOULD BE ITS ABILITY TO ENCOURAGE HEALTHY FATHER-CHILD RELATIONSHIPS AND BETTER THE LIVES OF FATHERS EVERYWHERE. IT WILL HAVE ACCOMPLISHED ITS GOAL IF MORE ATTENTION, MONEY, AND UNDERSTANDING ARE DEDICATED TO FATHERS EVERYWHERE. BUT PRICES INCREASED SINCE SO MANY YOUNG PEOPLE TOOK PART. ALL YOUTHS CAN PARTICIPATE AT NO COST. COMMUNITIES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN OUR PRIMARY EMPHASIS AS WE WORK TO BUILD RESILIENCE. WE WILL WORK WITH A DIVERSE RANGE OF PEOPLE, INCLUDING EAST AFRICAN IMMIGRANTS WITH THEIR OWN DISTINCT CULTURES, LOW-INCOME BLACK MEN HAVING THEIR FIRST CHILD, INDIGENOUS KIDS, AND PEOPLE OF COLOR IN GENERAL (BIPOC). OUR EFFORTS TO PROMOTE DIVERSITY ARE GEARED TOWARD STRENGTHENING LOCAL ECONOMIES BY INCREASING DIVERSIFICATION, WHICH IS ONE OF THE BEST WAYS TO ENSURE THE SUSTAINABILITY OF THE ECONOMY AND PROVIDE EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE OVER THE LONG TERM.
ONE WAY TO ACHIEVE THIS SUCCESS IS BY CREATING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAMS, FATHERHOOD NURTURING PROGRAMS, YOUTH ENGAGEMENT, AND INITIATIVES THAT FOCUS ON PROMOTING DIVERSITY IN LEARNING. THIS INVOLVED OFFERING COURSES AND HEALTHCARE TRAINING PROGRAMS THAT ARE DESIGNED TO SUPPORT UNDERREPRESENTED GROUPS, OR THAT ENCOURAGE THE DEVELOPMENT OF SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE THAT ARE IN DEMAND IN THE LOCAL JOB MARKET. ANOTHER APPROACH WAS TO PARTNER WITH LOCAL SCHOOLS, COLLEGES, AND UNIVERSITIES TO CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR HEALTHCARE STUDENTS FROM DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS TO GAIN ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATION. THIS INVOLVED PROVIDING FINANCIAL SUPPORT SERVICES, MENTORSHIP PROGRAMS, OR JOB SKILLS READINESS OPPORTUNITIES THAT HELP STUDENTS GAIN THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE THEY NEED TO SUCCEED IN THEIR CHOSEN FIELD. BY TAKING A COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT THAT FOCUSES ON EDUCATION, ENTREPRENEURSHIP, AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT, IT IS WAS POSSIBLE TO CREATE A MORE DIVERSE AND RESILIENT LOCAL ECONOMY THAT BENEFITS EVERYONE.
