EMPOWER THE PARENT TO EMPOWER THE CHILD (EPEC) EMPOWERS PARENTS TO BECOME SELF-SUSTAINING CITIZENS ABLE TO PROVIDE FOR THEMSELVES AND CARE FOR THEIR CHILDREN THROUGH A PARENTING PROGRAM, LIFE SKILLS AND JOB TRAINING.

EMPOWER THE PARENT TO EMPOWER THE CHILD (EPEC) IS IN THEIR SEVENTH YEAR OF PROVIDING SERVICES FOR PARTICIPANTS, ANIMAL OWNERS IN THE AREA, AND THEIR DOGS. PARTICIPANTS IN THE TRAINING PROGRAM TO BECOME DOG GROOMERS ARE PARENTS EITHER HOMELESS OR AT RISK OF BEING HOMELESS. WITH 64 GRADUATES, WE HAVE EXPERIENCED 100% JOB PLACEMENT FOR OUR STUDENTS WITH A 72% RETENTION RATE AFTER SIX MONTHS. OUR GRADUATES EARN A RANGE IN SALARY UP TO $60,000. THE GROOMING PROJECT OFFERS MUCH NEEDED LOW-COST GROOMING SERVICES TO LOW INCOME PET OWNERS THAT COULD NOT OTHERWISE AFFORD TO HAVE THEIR DOG GROOMED. DOGS COME IN SO MATTED THAT THEY CANNOT SEE AND THEIR SKIN IS PINCHED TOGETHER. WHILE PROVIDING OUR PARTICIPANT PARENTS WITH VALUABLE HANDS ON TRAINING IN BATHING AND GROOMING A VARIETY OF DOG BREEDS, THIS SERVICE OFFERS HEALTHY RELIEF FOR THESE PETS. THE EPEC POST-GRADUATION PROGRAM PROVIDES AN EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST WHO CHECKS IN WITH GRADUATES WEEKLY AT THEIR NEW POSITIONS AND PROVIDES MONTHLY BUDGETING TO ASSIST OUR GRADUATES IN NAVIGATING OFF DEPENDENCE ON WELFARE TO A SELF-SUPPORTING AND SUSTAINABLE LIFE FOR THEIR FAMILIES. THE IMPACT OF EPEC'S PROGRAM CREATES A HEALTHIER COMMUNITY WITH LESS HOMELESSNESS AND STRONGER SELF-SUFFICIENT FAMILIES.
