JOBS WITH JUSTICE SAN FRANCISCO 2020 PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTSUNDOCUFUND-SFIN MARCH OF 2020, JWJ CO-FOUNDED UNDOCUFUND SAN FRANCISCO WITH ALLIED SAN FRANCISCO IMMIGRANT AND WORKER RIGHTS ORGANIZATIONS TO PROVIDE CRITICAL AID TO UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS WHO WERE CUT OUT OF THE SOCIAL SAFETY NET. MANY OF OUR UNDOCUMENTED COMMUNITY MEMBERS WORK IN TEMPORARY OR LOW-WAGE JOBS, WITHOUT ACCESS TO SICK LEAVE, UNEMPLOYMENT OR THE ABILITY TO WORK REMOTELY. NATIONAL AND STATE RELIEF PLANS DO NOT INCLUDE UNDOCUMENTED PEOPLE IN THEIR PLANS FOR SUPPORT.UNDOCUFUND-SF RAISED 4.5 MILLION DOLLARS TO SUPPORT UNDOCUMENTED CHILDREN, FAMILIES, AND COMMUNITIES AFFECTED BY THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC WHO LIVE, WORK OR RECENTLY LOST WORK IN SAN FRANCISCO.PAID SICK LEAVEAFTER THE PANDEMIC HIT, JOBS WITH JUSTICE HELPED PASS LEGISLATION IN SAN FRANCISCO ESTABLISHING A PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY LEAVE, PROVIDING 200,000 WORKERS UP TO TWO WEEKS OF PAID LEAVE, WITH ONE OF THE MOST EXTENSIVE COVERAGE FOR CORONAVIRUS RELATED REASONS, SUCH AS NEEDING TO SELF-QUARANTINE, WORKING WHILE BEING A SENIOR OR MEDICALLY VULNERABLE, CARING FOR SOMEONE WHO NEEDED TO QUARANTINE OR SEEK CARE, OR PARENTING KIDS WHOSE SCHOOLS CLOSED. WE ALSO COORDINATED REGIONALLY AROUND PAID SICK LEAVE POLICIES, AND A REGIONAL PRESS CONFERENCE WE ORGANIZED WITH WPUSA AND EBASE RESULTED IN EXTENSIVE COVERAGE ON MULTIPLE TV NEWS CHANNELS, THE CHRONICLE AND OTHER MEDIA.APP WORKER ORGANIZINGJOBS WITH JUSTICE SAN FRANCISCO HAS BEEN RELENTLESS IN OUR FIGHT AGAINST BILLION DOLLAR APP-BASED COMPANIES TO ENSURE BASIC RIGHTS FOR APP WORKERS AND A JUST FUTURE FOR ALL WORKERS. IN 2020 WE COMPLETED THE FIRST REPRESENTATIVE STUDY OF APP-BASED WORK WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA AND NATIONAL JOBS WITH JUSTICE. THE RESULTS OF THE STUDY WERE FEATURED IN THE OFFICIAL BALLOT ARGUMENTS AGAINST PROP 22, THE MOST EXPENSIVE BALLOT CAMPAIGN EVER AND AN ATTEMPT BY APP COMPANIES TO BUY THEMSELVES A SPECIAL EXEMPTION TO STATE LAW AND PREEMPT LOCAL PROGRESSIVE LAWS. WEVE ALSO WORKED TO PASS A HEALTH AND SAFETY ORDINANCE FOR APP-BASED DELIVERY DRIVERS AND ORGANIZED EXTENSIVE POLITICAL SUPPORT FOR AB 5, INCLUDING A BOARD RESOLUTION SUPPORTING AB 5 ENFORCEMENT AND MULTIPLE OP-EDS IN THE CHRONICLE AND EXAMINER.RENT RELIEFJOBS WITH JUSTICE ENDORSED AND HELPED PASS PROP I, CREATING A FUND THAT WILL AID SAN FRANCISCO TENANTS, WHO COLLECTIVELY OWE OVER $196 MILLION IN RENT DEBT AND WHO ARE OVER 80% PEOPLE OF COLOR. SAN FRANCISCO GREEN NEW DEALIN COLLABORATION WITH SAN FRANCISCO-BASED ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE GROUP PODER, AND COMMUNITY AND LABOR PARTNERS, JOBS WITH JUSTICE IS ORGANIZING FOR A SF GREEN NEW DEAL THAT WILL CREATE A JUST PLAN FOR SAN FRANCISCO TO MEET CLIMATE GOALS AND TIMELINES, AND PROVIDE GOOD GREEN JOBS THAT BENEFIT OUR COMMUNITIES, ESPECIALLY PEOPLE OF COLOR.BLACK LIVES MATTERDURING THE UPRISINGS FOLLOWING THE MURDERS OF GEORGE FLOYD AND MANY OTHERS, JOBS WITH JUSTICE COORDINATED WITH LABOR PARTNERS TO ORGANIZE PROTESTS SUPPORTING THE MOVEMENT TO DEFUND THE POLICE AND REINVEST IN COMMUNITIES OF COLOR, ALONG WITH DEMANDING ACCOUNTABILITY ON RACIAL JUSTICE FROM POLICE OFFICER UNIONS.
