OPPORTUNITY MUSIC PROJECT PROVIDES UNIQUE AND ENRICHING MUSICAL EXPERIENCES, OPENING DOORS FOR UNDERSERVED STUDENTS IN THE ARTS. ACHIEVEMENTS INCLUDE THE OPPORTUNITY MUSIC PROJECT HONORS ORCHESTRA PERFORMANCES AT CARNEGIE HALLS WEILL INSTITUTE, THE HARVARD GRADUATE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION, AND MOUNT SINAI HOSPITAL. OMP STUDENTS HAVE SUCCESSFULLY AUDITIONED FOR, AND HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED IN SOME OF NEW YORK CITYS TOP YOUTH ORCHESTRAS AND TRAINING PROGRAMS, INCLUDING JUILLIARDS PRE-COLLEGE AND MUSIC ADVANCEMENT PROGRAM, THE NEW YORK YOUTH SYMPHONY, THE INTERSCHOOL ORCHESTRA, LAGUARDIA HIGH SCHOOL, AND SPECIAL MUSIC HIGH SCHOOL. OPPORTUNITY MUSIC PROJECT STUDENTS HAVE SUCCESSFULLY LEVERAGED THEIR MUSICAL TRAINING TO GAIN ACCEPTANCE AT PRESTIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING INCLUDING: HARVARD, UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO, RICE, MANHATTAN SCHOOL OF MUSIC, QUEENS COLLEGE, AND OTHERS.

Part 3 - Line 4a

THIS PROJECT LOCATES DEDICATED FAMILIES WITH A CHILD INTERESTED IN MUSIC AND OFFERS THEM THE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE PRIVATE MUSIC LESSONS. A PILAR OF THE PROJECT IS THE ELEMENT OF SERVICE THAT STUDENTS IN TURN PROVIDE TO THEIR COMMUNITY BY GIVING BACK IN THE FORM OF RECITALS TO SOCIAL GROUPS SUCH AS THE ELDERLY AND HOMELESS. STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES BECOME ACTIVE OWNERS OF THEIR PROJECT.
