THE FOUNDATION'S ART COLLECTION REMAINS ACTIVE IN THE LOCAL AND REGIONAL ARTS COMMUNITY BY UNDERGOING CONSTANT DEVELOPMENT AND RESEARCH, PARTICIPATING IN LARGER ART HISTORICAL DIALOGUES BY CONTRIBUTING TO VARIOUS MUSEUM AND GALLERY EXHIBITIONS, AND WELCOMING SCHOLARLY STUDY AND PUBLIC EXHIBITS.

HISTORY OF THE FOUNDATION COLLECTIONTHE FOUNDATION WAS FORMED IN 2012 BY JOHN AND SUSAN HORSEMAN IN PART THROUGH THEIR DONATION OF THIRTY-SIX PAINTINGS FROM THEIR PERSONAL ART COLLECTION. AS OF OCTOBER 2014, THEFOUNDATION CONTAINS THIRTY ACTIVE ACCESSIONS. SIGNIFICANTLY, THE FOUNDATION'S COLLECTION GREW FROM A FOCUS ON THE MANY AMERICAN ARTISTS WORKING CONCURRENTLY TO YET SEPARATELY FROM THE NEW YORK SCHOOL ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONISTS. THE HOLDINGS OF THE FOUNDATION'S COLLECTION FOCUS ON THE ARTS OF THE UNITED STATES FROM 1910-1950, DEMONSTRATING THE BROAD RANGE OF ARTISTIC RESPONSES TO THE SWEEPING SOCIAL, POLITICAL, AND CULTURAL TRANSFORMATIONS OF THE ERA. THE FOUNDATION COLLECTION HAS THUS PROVIDED A CLEAR PICTURE OF THE NOTABLE YET OFTEN OVERLOOKED AMERICAN ELSEWHERE, FILLING A LARGER SCHOLARLY NEED FOR CONTINUED APPRECIATION OF TWENTIETH-CENTURY AMERICAN MODERNISMS.
