IN 2021, THE ORGANIZATION HAD 268 MEMBERS AND HOSTED ITS ANNUAL MEETING VIRTUALLY ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2021 DUE TO THE GLOBAL PANDEMIC. THE VIRTUAL ANNUAL MEETING INCLUDED SCIENTIFIC LECTURES FOLLOWED BY PANEL DISCUSSIONS. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO SPONSORED MICHAEL ZINNER HEALTH SERVICES RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS AND CONTINUTES TO PARTNER WITH JAMA SURGERY AS THEIR OFFICIAL JOURNAL TO PROVIDE SOC MEMBERS WITH FREE ACCESS TO HIGH-QUALITY ARTICLES, MULTIMEDIA, AND LEARNING TOOLS. MANY OTHER INITIATIVES SUCH AS THE COMPETITIVE TRAVEL SCHOLARSHIP TO ATTEND THE ACADEMYHEALTH ANNUAL RESEARCH MEETING WERE PLACED ON HOLD AS A RESULT OF THE PANDEMIC.
