HAVEN OF HOPEPY FOUNDATION PAID THE REMAINING ARCHITECT FEES FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF PHASE I OF THE FACILITY THAT BEGAN HOUSING SINGLE MOTHERS AND THEIR CHILDREN IN JANUARY 2021 IN ORDER TO ALLOW THEM TIME TO RECEIVE TRAINING OR EDUCATION TO BETTER THEIR FINANCIAL SITUATION. WHILE THE MOTHERS ARE IN RESIDENCE AT HAVEN OF HOPE, THEY WILL BE REQUIRED TO ATTEND COUNSELING AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT EDUCATION SESSIONS.
CAPACITY BUILDINGPY FOUNDATION CONTINUED ITS COMMITMENT TO PROVIDE EDUCATION TO AREA NONPROFIT ENTITIES THIS PAST YEAR. A NONPROFIT MANAGEMENT COURSE, CONSISTING OF THREE TWO-DAY CLASSES DURING THE YEAR AND TAUGHT BY UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS PROFESSORS, WAS OFFERED. NONPROFIT PERSONNEL AND BOARD MEMBERS EARNED A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION IF THEY COMPLETED THE FULL COURSE. IN ADDITION TO THESE REGULAR QUARTERLY CLASSES, PY FOUNDATION WAS ALSO ABLE TO OFFER A ONE-DAY NONPROFIT ACCOUNTING FUNDAMENTALS CLASS.
INTERNSHIP PROGRAMPY FOUNDATION WORKED WITH TWO INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION TO PLACE STUDENTS IN JOB POSITIONS THAT ALLOWED THEM JOB AND REAL LIFE EXPERIENCE AS WELL AS EXPOSING THEM TO THE NONPROFIT AND GOVERNMENT SECTOR OF THEIR MAJORS. PY FOUNDATION HOSTED TWO ACCOUNTING INTERNS FROM LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY AND WE WERE ABLE TO EXPOSE THEM TO BOTH PUBLIC CHARITY AND PRIVATE FOUNDATION ACCOUNTING AND ADMINISTRATION. THE ARTESIA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE HOSTED AN INTERN FROM ABILENE CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY AND PROVIDED HIM VALUABLE EXPERIENCE IN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.
ARTS & CULTURAL DISTRICTIN ORDER TO HELP ARTESIA MAINSTREET, INC. BUILD A SUCCESSFUL ARTS & CULTURAL DISTRICT, PY FOUNDATION HIRED A CONTRACTOR WITH ART EXPERIENCE TO SPEARHEAD THE MURAL PROJECT AND AID WITH A DOWNTOWN MUSIC FESTIVAL. ARTESIA NOW BOASTS 6 MURALS ON THE SIDES OF BUILDINGS IN THE DOWNTOWN DISTRICT THAT HIGHLIGHT THE CULTURE AND HISTORY OF OUR AREA. ONE MURAL WAS A COMMUNITY MURAL AND ALLOWED LOCALS TO PAINT A SECTION, PROVIDING ARTESIANS OWNERSHIP IN THEIR MURALS.
