KNSCF IS CREATING A COMMUNITY CENTERED SCHOOL, NAMAHANA PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL, WHERE CHILDREN CAN THRIVE AND LEARN THE VALUES WE CHERISH WHILE STUDYING EXCEPTIONAL CURRICULUM. THIS YEAR, A SCHOOL LEADER WAS HIRED AS WELL AS A HAWAII ARCHITECTURAL FIRM. THE NAMAHANA TEAM PRESENTED ITS APPLICATION TO THE CHARTER COMMISSION IN EARLY 2022 AND TESTIFIED BEFORE THE COMMISSION IN MAY 2022. ADDITIONALLY, KNSCF CONTINUES TO ENRICH EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES BY ACTIVELY SUPPORTING ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS THROUGH THEIR PROGRAMS LEAP FORWARD, ILEARN, CODE CAMP AND S.A.T. PREPARATORY PROGRAMS.
KNSCF RESPONDED TO THE PANDEMIC BY AWARDING VITAL GRANTS TO LOCAL CHARITIES THAT SERVE THE EDUCATIONAL AND HEALTH & WELLNESS NEEDS OF KAUAI'S NORTH SHORE. AWARDED GRANTS SUPPORTED NORTH SHORE COLLEGE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS, AFTER-SCHOOL MUSIC PROGRAMS, SCHOOL LUNCHES, NEW PARK EQUIPMENT FOR PRINCE ALBERT PARK AS WELL AS HANALEI HILL LANDSLIDE RELIEF. KNSCF PURCHASED TRAINING EQUIPMENT FOR THE JRLIFEGUARD PROGRAM.
OUR STEWARDSHIP OF THE NORTH SHORE DOG PARK CONTINUES NOW FOR ITS SEVENTH YEAR. THIS ADA-ACCESSIBLE PARK IN THE WAI KOA PLANTATION FEATURES SEPARATE PLAY AREAS FOR LARGE AND SMALL DOGS, ALLOWING SOCIALIZATION FOR BOTH OWNERS AND PETS IN A BEAUTIFUL LEASH FREE AND SAFE ENVIRONMENT. ALTHOUGH THE ANNUAL OHANA FIT FEST OBSTACLE RUN WAS CANCELED DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, SOME FIT FEST SUPPLIES WERE PURCASED AND WILL BE USED FOR THE 2022 EVENT.
