THE FOUNDATION CONDUCTS AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH EXPERIMENTS WITH A FOCUS ON WATER-USE EFFICIENCY, SOIL MANAGEMENT, AND COVER CROP USE WHICH REDUCE THE DEPENDENCY ON SYNTHETIC FERTILIZERS, ALL OF WHICH CAN BE USED IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES TO BENEFIT SMALL-SCALE AND SUBSISTENCE FARMERS.THE FOUNDATION OWNS RANCHES AND FARMS IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE US/MEXICO BORDER, ALLOWING IT TO ALSO CONDUCT RESEARCH ON HOW HUMAN TRAFFIC (DRUG TRAFFICKERS, ECONOMIC MIGRANTS, AND MIGRANTS FLEEING VIOLENCE IN THEIR HOME COUNTRIES) CROSSING INTO THE US ILLEGALLY AFFECTS BORDER SECURITY. THE FOUNDATION'S BORDER PROPERTIES ALSO SERVE AS EDUCATION SITES FOR VISITING POLICY MAKERS WORKING ON BORDER-RELATED ISSUES.DURING 2022 THE FOUNDATION EXPANDED ITS MISSION TO INCLUDE AGRICULTURAL-FOCUSED AND OTHER HUMANITARIAN RELIEF IN THE UKRAINE.
