OSE TEACHES COLLABORATIVE DESIGN FOR A TRANSPARENT AND INCLUSIVE ECONOMY OF ABUNDANCE.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
THIS YEAR WE BEGAN AN APPRENTICE AND TRAINING PROGRAM FOR BUILDERS. THE PROGRAM FOCUSES ON HOUSING AND SUPPORTING CONSTRUCTION MACHINES, BOTH THEIR DESIGN AND BUILD. THE PROGRAM WAS INTENDED AS WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AND FOR DIY BUILDERS WHO WANT TO BUILD THEIR OWN AFFORDABLE TINY-HOMES, OR WHO WANT TO LEARN HANDS-ON, PRACTICAL SKILLS. ABOUT 50 PEOPLE PARTICIPATED IN THE APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM AND WORKSHOPS. AFTER THIS INITIAL PILOT PROGRAM, WE ARE EXPANDING OUR APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING SO THAT SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES CAN DO THIS WORK FOR A LIVING. AS SUCH, WE ARE WORKING ON BECOMING AN EDUCATION PROVIDER SIMILAR TO TRADE SCHOOLS. OUR UNIQUE VALUE PROPOSITION COMPARED TO TRADE SCHOOLS IS THAT WE TEACH BOTH THE BUILD SKILLS, DESIGN SKILLS, AND ENTERPRISE SKILLS. OUR VISION IS THAT OUR STUDENTS GAIN THE SKILLS TO RUN THEIR OWN BUSINESS, WHILE DOING SO IN A COLLABORATIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT WHERE THEY SHARE THE BEST PRACTICES AND DESIGNS FOR A LIFELONG JOURNEY OF LEARNING. THIS MARKS A POINT WHERE THE COLLABORATIVE ENTERPRISE ECOSYSTEM THAT WE'VE BEEN PROMOTING THROUGH OUR MISSION OF COLLABORATIVE DESIGN - IS TURNING INTO A REALITY. WE ARE SHIFTING TO A LARGER FRACTION OF PROGRAMMATIC REVENUE (TECHNICAL TRAINING) AS A MEANS TO SUPPORT PROGRAM GROWTH.
