TO PROVIDE THE YOUTH OF TODAY THE EDUCATION, SKILLS AND TRAINING TO DEVELOP INTO YOUNG ADULTS. THESE PURPOSES MAY BE ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH VARIOUS AVENUES, ONE OF WHICH WILL BE COLLABORATION WITH SCHOOLS AND ATHLETIC ORGANIZATIONS TO PROVIDE EDUCATION, SKILLS, TRAINING AND FOOD TO YOUTHS.

SMITTY'S SCHOLARS PROVIDES SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS FOR HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS IN THE HOUSTON AREA, AND LAKE HIGHLANDS HIGH SCHOOL IN DALLAS. IN 2017 WE PROVIDED SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 4 STUDENTS. HOUSTON SCHOLARSHIP WAS POSTPONED DUE TO HURRICANE HARVEY.
WE HAVE AN ANNUAL FREE YOUTH FOOTBALL CAMP TO PROMOTE HEALTH AND FITNESS AND TEACH SKILLS TO HELP IMPROVE THEIR TECHNIQUE IF THEY WANT TO PURSUE THAT CAREER. WE HAD 175 PARTICIPANTS K THROUGH 6TH GRADE IN THE 2017 CAMP THAT WANTED TO LEARN PROPER TECHNIQUES FOR CHEERLEADING.
THE READING WITH THE PROS CHILDHOOD LITERACY PROGRAM INVOLVES VISITS TO ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS ONCE A MONTH DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR TO SPEAK TO CHILDREN ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF READING AND LITERACY IN AN ASSEMBLY FOR 3RD THROUGH 6TH GRADERS. WE TALK TO THEM ABOUT GETTING LIBRARY CARDS IN ORDER TO INCREASE THEIR KNOWLEDGE. WE SPENT TIME READING BOOKS TO THE KINDERGARTEN THROUGH 2ND GRADE CHILDREN. THERE WERE 12 EVENTS AT HOUSTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS,4 EVENTS AT DALLAS ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS AND ONE SPECIAL SUPER BOWL EVENT IN HOUSTON, TEXAS. THESE EVENTS REACHED 12,800 STUDENTS IN 2017.
