IN 2022-2023 MCCE ACTION SUPPORTED EFFORTS THROUGH A BALLOT INITIATIVE TO BAN FOREIGN CORPORATE CONTRIBUTIONS TO CANDIDATES AND TO REQUIRE MORE TRANSPARENCY FOR CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS TO CANDIDATES FOR MUNICIPAL OFFICES IN MAINE'S LARGER CITIES. MCCE ACTION ALSO WORKED TO IMPLEMENT A CLEAN ELECTIONS (PUBLIC FUNDING) PROGRAM FOR MUNICIPAL CANDIDATES IN THE CITY OF PORTLAND. SINCE 2021 MCCE ACTION HAS BEEN WORKING TO AMEND THE MUNICIPAL CHARTER IN THE CITY OF PORTLAND TO PROVIDE PUBLIC CAMPAIGN FINANCING TO CANDIDATES FOR MUNICIPAL OFFICES. FORM 990-EZ, PART IV- ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONTHE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SALARY WAS PAID VIA A COMMON PAYMASTER, A RELATED ORGANIZATION (MAINE CITIZENS FOR CLEAN ELECTIONS, MCCE, A 501C3 ORGANIZATION).
