MAPS HAS A 20 YEAR HISTORY OF PATIENT SAFETY ENGAGEMENT AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS. WE ARE UNIQUE AS THE MOST BROADLY BASED HEALTH CARE COALITION IN MINNESOTA, WITH REPRESENTATION FROM THE ENTIRE CONTINUUM OF HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS, STATE AGENCIES, REGULATORY BOARDS AND ACTIVE CONSUMER REPRESENTATION. MAPS VISION IS "SAFE CARE EVERYWHERE." MAPS HAS EXPERTISE AND FOCUSES ON SPECIFIC PROJECTS WITHIN THE FOLLOWING STRATEGIC AREAS:(1) CONVENING AND ALIGNING THE PATIENT SAFETY COMMUNITY AROUND SHARED LANGUAGE AND GOALS, (2) BRIDGING BETWEEN AND ACROSS CARE SILOS WITH RESPECT TO TRANSITIONS OF CARE, (3) STRENGTHENING RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN PATIENTS AND THEIR CARE TEAMS TO FOSTER PATIENT SAFETY, (4) CREATED AND EXPANDED MEMBERSHIP IN A STATEWIDE COMMUNITY ADVISORY COUNCIL WHERE WE CONTINUE TO ELICIT, SHARE AND LEVERAGE THE PATIENT AND FAMILY VOICES TO FOSTER BETTER, SAFER AND MORE COMPASSIONATE CARE. ONE OF THEIR SIGNIFICANT WORK PRODUCTS DURING THE PANDEMIC WAS A TESTED DOCUMENT: "SAFER TOGETHER: THE ESSENTIAL ROLE OF AN IN-PERSON CARE PARTNER" WHICH WAS WIDELY DISTRIBUTED (5) RE-STARED OUR INITIATIVE "STROP DROPPING THE BALL: IMPROVING DIAGNOSIS ACROSS TRANSITIONS OF CARE IN RURAL COMMUNITIES", HAVING PAUSED DURING COVID-19 SHUTDOWN(6) HIRED A NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND ARE IN THE PROCESS OF REFINING OUR BUSINESS PLAN.WE HAVE AN ENGAGED BOARD FROM ACROSS THE HEALTH CARE CONTINUUM THAT ENGAGE IN OUR WORK. THIS PROVIDES US WITH A PERSPECTIVE THAT HELPS OUR MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS GAIN INSIGHTS INTO SOME OF TODAY'S MORE VEXING QUALITY AND SAFETY PROBLEMS. AS THE ONLY ORGANIZATION IN MINNESOTA FOCUSED SOLELY ON SAFETY IN HEALTHCARE, MAPS IS BUILT ON THE PREMISE THAT SAFETY IS NOT GROUNDS FOR COMPETITION AND IS ADVANCED BEST WHEN APPROACHED COLLABORATIVELY.IN AUGUST OF 2017, MAPS BECAME A SUBSIDIARY OF STRATIS HEALTH. AS ONE OF MAPS' FOUNDING MEMBERS, STRATIS HEALTH LEADS COLLABORATION AND INNOVATION IN HEALTH CARE QUALITY AND SAFETY, AND SERVES AS A TRUSTED EXPERT IN FACILITATING IMPROVEMENT FOR PEOPLE AND COMMUNITIES.
