AMS WAS FORMED TO SUPPORT THE CHARITABLE PURPOSES OF ARNOT MEDICAL CENTER WHICH INCLUDE PROVIDING PHYSICIAN SERVICES DESIGNED TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF HEALTH CARE AVAILABLE TO THE RESIDENTS OF CHEMUNG COUNTY, NEW YORK AND OTHER AREAS SERVED BY THE HOSPITAL. FURTHERMORE, AMSS PURPOSE IS TO PARTICIPATE IN ACTIVITIES TO PROMOTE AND IMPROVE THE OVERALL HEALTH OF, AND TO OTHERWISE MEET THE MEDICAL CARE NEEDS OF, THE COMMUNITY AND TO ADVANCE, PROMOTE, FOSTER AND SUPPORT CLINICAL RESEARCH. THE FORMATION OF AMS WAS LARGELY MOTIVATED BY THE GOAL OF AN INTEGRATED MEDICAL SERVICE SYSTEM; NAMELY TO ENCOURAGE THE HOSPITAL AND PHYSICIANS TO WORK IN CONJUNCTION WITH EACH OTHER TO IMPROVE ACCESS TO, AND TO PROVIDE BETTER CARE FOR PATIENTS IN THE COMMUNITY. AMS PROVIDES NONDISCRIMINATORY SERVICES TO MEDICARE AND MEDICAID RECIPIENTS AND PROVIDES FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE ON A CASE-BY-CASE BASIS FOR PATIENTS WHO EARN 300% OR LESS OF THE FEDERAL POVERTY GUIDELINES FOR THE APPLICABLE FAMILY SIZE.
