CHALLENGE DETROIT IS A YEAR-LONG, MULTI-DISCIPLINARY FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM THAT CULTIVATES DIVERSE, INNOVATIVE, COMMUNITY-MINDED LEADERS FROM THE CITY AND ACROSS THE COUNTRY, FOSTERING THEIR TALENTS TO INTELLECTUALLY SUPPORT LOCAL INITIATIVES THAT MOVE DETROIT FORWARD. FOR THE 2021-2022 PROGRAM YEAR, 90 TOP APPLICANTS WERE SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN A RECRUITING EVENT IN DETROIT. 41 OF THESE INDIVIDUALS WERE SELECTED TO BE HIRED BY CHALLENGE DETROIT EMPLOYER ORGANIZATIONS (HOST COMPANIES) FOR ONE YEAR. THOSE INDIVIDUALS, THE FELLOWS, SPEND FOUR DAYS A WEEK ACCELERATING THEIR CAREERS WITH THE HOST COMPANIES, AND, EACH FRIDAY, TAKE A DAY OUT OF THE OFFICE TO BRING SOCIAL IMPACT CHALLENGE PROJECTS TO LIFE IN COLLABORATION WITH LOCAL NONPROFIT PARTNERS AND CHALLENGE DETROIT. SEE SCHEDULE O FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.THEY WORK IN MULTI-DISCIPLINARY TEAMS, BRINGING THEIR VISION, CREATIVE MUSCLES, AND ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRITS TO ADDRESS SOME OF DETROIT'S GREATEST CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES. WHEN FELLOWS ARE NOT WORKING ON CHALLENGE PROJECTS, THEY ARE PARTICIPATING IN ROBUST LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMING, BUILDING SKILLS IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT, COMMUNICATIONS, DESIGN THINKING, AND BEYOND. CHALLENGE DETROIT BELIEVES THAT, TO MOVE THE CITY FORWARD, POSITIVE CHANGE STARTS WITH AN INDIVIDUAL AND IS IGNITED BY A COMMUNITY OF LEADERS WHO BRING INNOVATIVE PERSPECTIVES TO THEIR WORK AND, MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE NONPROFITS ALREADY MAKING AN IMPACT WITHIN DETROIT COMMUNITIES.
