Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3
THE FOUNDATION ACCOMPLISHES ITS MISSION THROUGH ITS MAJOR PROJECT, THE HENDREN PROJECT. THROUGH THE HENDREN PROJECT, THE FOUNDATION SPONSORS A REGULAR SERIES OF WEBINARS THAT PROVIDE AN INTERNATIONAL FORUM WHERE SURGEONS CAN PRESENT THEIR MOST CHALLENGING CASES AND DISCUSS TREATMENT STRATEGIES WITH PEERS AND EXPERTS WORLDWIDE. THE HENDREN PROJECT IS ACCESSIBLE ONLY TO REGISTERED AND VETTED MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS AFFILIATED WITH PEDIATRIC SURGERY AND UROLOGY. THE FOUNDATION ALSO HOSTS DAY-LONG ONLINE EDUCATIONAL COURSES, WHERE SURGEONS CAN LEARN ABOUT THE LATEST SURGICAL TECHNIQUES AND STRATEGIES TO MORE EFFECTIVELY TREATING CHILDREN WITH COMPLEX SURGICAL CONDITIONS. THE ONLINE PRESENTATIONS ARE RECORDED AND PROVIDE THE CORE CONTENT THAT IS AVAILABLE ON THE HENDREN PROJECT. THIS CONTENT IS OFTEN UNIQUE BECAUSE THE SURGICAL CONDITIONS DISCUSSED ARE RARELY REPORTED IN MEDICAL JOURNALS AND AT MEDICAL CONFERENCES. TO FULFILL ITS MISSION AND EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES, THE FOUNDATION RETAINS AS EDITORS A GROUP OF WORLD-RENOWNED, VOLUNTEER SURGICAL EXPERTS FROM SELECTED FIELDS WITHIN PEDIATRIC SURGERY AND UROLOGY. THEIR LEADERSHIP HELPS THE FOUNDATION ADDRESS RARE AND COMPLEX MEDICAL ISSUES ENCOUNTERED BY PRACTITIONERS IN SURGICAL TREATMENT OF CHILDREN. THEIR COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION PROVIDES ACCESS TO RECOGNIZED INTERNATIONAL EXPERTS IN PEDIATRIC SURGERY AND UROLOGY, THUS CREATING A TRULY UNIQUE INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATIVE COMMUNITY. THE FOUNDATION ALSO RECOGNIZES THAT COMPLEX PEDIATRIC MEDICAL ISSUES PERSIST THROUGHOUT THE LIFETIME OF THE PATIENT AND THAT INITIAL PEDIATRIC SURGERY IS THE BEGINNING OF A JOURNEY. THE FOUNDATION ALSO PROVIDES RESOURCES AND MEDICAL INFORMATION TO ASSIST IN THE TRANSITION OF CARE OVER TIME.
