WE ENVISION A FUTURE IN WHICH ALL AGES AND ABILITIES CAN EXPLORE AND CONNECT WITH THEIR COMMUNITIES BY BICYCLE, AND ALL HAVE ACCESS TO BIKES AT AN AFFORDABLE COST. OUR MISSION IS TO ENABLE HISTORICALLY UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS TO ACCESS THEIR INTERESTS BY BICYCLE.

CYCLE ACADEMY INCLUDES SEMESTER LONG AFTER-SCHOOL WEEKLY BICYCLE MAINTENANCE, SAFETY AND RIDING CLASSES. IN AUSTIN DURING 2021, THERE WERE 3 BIKE STARTS WITH 80 PARTICIPANTS. WE LED 4 IN-PERSON BICYCLE SKILLS CHALLENGES AND COORDINATED OUR BICYCLE SKILLS CHALLENGE AT HOME PROGRAM FOR VIRTUAL INSTRUCTION WITH 17 AUSTIN SCHOOLS FOR A TOTAL OF 21 BICYCLE SKILLS CHALLENGES WITH 5,812 PARTICIPANTS. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, THERE WERE 25 BIKE CLUBS WITH 315 UNIQUE PARTICIPANTS AND 1,795 ENCOUNTERS. DUE TO CONTINUING PANDEMIC CONCERNS, TRICK OR TREAT TO YOU WAS CONTINUED WITH THE DELIVERY OF 1200 TREAT BAGS VIA VOLUNTEERS ON BICYCLE. FOR THE AISD DISTRICT-WIDE BIKE & SCHOOL DAY 2021, WE EDUCATED OVER 5,000 STUDENTS ON BICYCLE SAFETY AND SKILLS. 25 SCHOOLS PARTICIPATED AND WE DISTRIBUTED APPROXIMATELY $50,000 IN MATERIAL GOODS, INCLUDING 104 BIKES, 104 HELMETS, AND 604 RECHARGEABLE BIKE LIGHT SETS. IN SAN ANTONIO, THE YOUR BIKE, YOUR RIDE WAS A LARGE PART OF 2021 AND OUR CYCLE ACADEMY PROGRAM COMBINING HANDS-ON BIKE EDUCATION CLINICS WITH EQUIPMENT DISTRIBUTION. WE EDUCATED OVER 3,600 YOUTH IN 7 DIFFERENT PROGRAMS THROUGHOUT ALL OF SAN ANTONIO. THERE WERE 15 BICYCLE SKILLS CHALLENGE PROGRAMS (VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON), 1 BIKESTART, 1 BIKE CLUB AND 3 YOUTH FOCUSED EVENTS. WE DISTRIBUTED 148 BICYCLES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AS WELL AS HELMETS, LOCKS, AND BIKE LIGHT SETS.
GOLDEN ROLLERS IS AN ADULT TRICYCLE AND RECUMBENT BASED PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES AN OPPORTUNITY FOR ADULTS AGES 50 AND OLDER AND/OR WITH DIFFERING ABILITIES TO ENGAGE IN LOW-IMPACT, BICYCLE-BASED RECREATION, EXPLORATION AND TRANSPORTATION. IN AUSTIN, WE COORDINATED WITH 6 SITES TO PROVIDE 109 SESSIONS WITH 108 UNIQUE PARTICIPANTS AND 657 ENCOUNTERS. WE COMPILED AND DISTRIBUTED GOLDEN NOTES TO GOLDEN ROLLERS IN OUR TRIKE PROGRAM AS WELL AS THE LARGER OLDER ADULT AND SENIOR COMMUNITY. IN SAN ANTONIO PRIOR TO HEALTH RESTRICTIONS, THERE WERE 15 SESSIONS WITH 91 PARTICIPANTS. A HUGE WIN FOR THE YEAR WAS THE RESTART OF OUR GOLDEN ROLLERS PROGRAM AT MCBETH RECREATION CENTER IN AUSTIN WHICH FOCUSES ON ADULTS WITH DIFFERING ABILITIES. THE MCBETH REC CREW JOINED US ON THREE WHEELS ON A WEEKLY BASIS FROM JUNE THROUGH DECEMBER. IN SAN ANTONIO, 2021 WAS OVERWHELMING WITH THE NUMBER OF NEW RIDERS AND FREQUENT RIDERS THAT JOINED OUR TRIKE CLUB. OUR ONLY LOCATION FOR TRIKE RIDING IS LIONS FIELD ADULT AND SENIOR ACTIVITY CENTER AND IT BOASTED A TOTAL OF 27 CLASSES, AND 293 PARTICIPANT HOURS.
CITY CYCLIST WAS INITIATED IN 2019 TO EDUCATE AND MOTIVATE THE GENERAL POPULATION BY HOSTING LOCAL EVENTS AND PARTICIPATING WITH LOCAL GROUPS, COMMUNITY NONPROFITS AND BUSINESSES THAT WANT TO PROMOTE CYCLING SAFETY. IN AUSTIN DURING 2021, THERE WERE 4 BEGINNING CITY CYCLIST CLINICS WITH 28 RIDER-PARTICIPANTS AND 4 COMMUNITY RIDES ATTENDED BY 251 PARTICIPANTS. WE DEVELOPED 2 WALKING/RIDING TOURS WITH 14 PARTICIPANTS. WE ALSO HELD A MOBILITY CAMP FOR CAPITAL METRO EMPLOYEES WITH MOVABILITY THAT PROVIDED A BASIC CITY CYCLING OVERVIEW AND A BIKE RIDE ON PROTECTED PATHS NEAR CAPITAL METRO'S OFFICE. THE CITY CYCLIST PROGRAM IS BEING BUILT IN SAN ANTONIO. WE OFFERED OUR VIRTUAL BEGINNING CITY CYCLING 5 WEEK SESSION ONLINE AND HAD 66 REGISTRANTS. WE ATTENDED 4 PUBLIC EVENTS AND DISTRIBUTED REFLECTIVE DRAWSTRING BAGS( SEVERAL HUNDRED), RECHARGEABLE BIKE LIGHT KITS (OVER $9,500 WORTH), AND EDUCATIONAL SAFETY MATERIAL.
