TO DEMYSTIFY AND NORMALIZE BIKE RIDING AS A PART OF DAILY LIFE AND REALIZE THE BICYCLE AS A TOOL OF PERSONAL AND COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT.

BICYCLE SERVICES - WE FULFILL OUR MISSION BY PROVIDING THE COMMUNITY WITH AFFORDABLE BIKE SALES AND SERVICE. THERE ARE NO USED BIKE SHOPS LIKE US THAT PROVIDE THE UNIQUE SERVICES THAT WE DO IN OUR COMMUNITY. WE SELL APPROXIMATELY 600 USED BIKES A YEAR RECYCLE REUSE - WE RECYCLE AND REUSED 1,725 BIKES IN 2021. WE ESTIMATE THAT WE RECYCLE 34,000 LBS OF SCRAP METAL, PROCESS 10,000 LBS OF PARTS AND ACCESSORIES, AND RECYCLE APPROXIMATELY 1200 LBS OF TIRES. BIKE CAMP - WE RUN A SPRING AND SUMMER DAYTIME URBAN BIKE CAMP WHERE YOUTH EXPLORE THE CITY BY BIKE AS A GROUP. WE HAD 34 BIKE CAMPERS OVER THE TOTAL OF 6 WEEKS OF PROGRAMMING IN 2021. EARN A BIKE - THIS IS A EARNING AND LEARNING COURSE WHERE YOUTH BUILD UP A BIKE FROM THE FRAME UP. ITS A 6 SESSION COURSE WHERE STUDENTS LEARN SOMETHING ABOUT THEIR BIKE AND HOW TO FIX IT AT EACH SESSION. WE HAD 4 TOTAL STUDENTS EARN A BIKE PROGRAMMING - WE WERE JUST STARTING THIS PROGRAM BACK UP AND IT HAS BEEN SLOW TO RECOVER POST COVID. BIPOC PROGRAMMING - OUR BIPOC PROGRAMS AIM TO DIVERSIFY THE CYCLISING COMMUNITY BY INVITING IN AND MAKING SPACE FOR THE BIPOC COMMUNITY. WE HELD 7 BIPOC OPEN SHOP NIGHTS AND DID $700 WORTH OF IN KIND SERVICE FOR THAT COMMUNITY. THIS WINTER, WE INTRODUCED BIPOC COMMUNITY SHREDS, A GROUP MOUNTAIN BIKE RIDE AT SWAN CREEK. THESE RIDES ARE FOR FOLKS WHO DO NOT HAVE A MOUNTAIN BIKE OR ARE MOUNTAIN BIKE CURIOUS, AND ARE SHOWN THE TRAILS AT SWAN CREEK PARK. WE UNDERSTAND THAT THE COST OF ENTRY FOR MOUNTAIN BIKING IS VERY EXPENSIVE, SO WE LET FOLKS KNOW IF THEY DO NOT HAVE A MOUNTAIN BIKE, THEY CAN USE A BIKE FROM OUR SWAN CREEK FLEET. COMMUNITY EVENTS - WE HELD 5 COMMUNITY SLOW RIDES TO PROMOTE SAFER STREETS FOR CYCLISTS IN THE COMMUNITY. WE HAD A TOTAL OF 118 PARTICIPANTS IN TOTAL. WE DO THESE EVENTS IN THE SPRING AND SUMMER. PEDALS FOR THE PEOPLE IS A BIKE GIFTING PROGRAM FOR YOUTH AND ADULTS IN NEED. WE GAVE AWAY 67 BIKES TO YOUTH AND WE GAVE 58 BIKES TO ADULTS. THE BIKES ARE GIVEN AWAY ON A DEMONSTRATED NEEDS BASIS, USUALLY LOW INCOME OR HOMELESS FOLKS.
