Part 3
WE SUCCESSFULLY NAVIGATED COVID AND CONTINUED SUPPORTING RECOVERY SUPPORT INITIATIVES IN THE COLLEGIATE RECOVERY PROGRAMS AND WITH ASSISTANCE IN SOBER LIVING HOUSING IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE. THE 10TH ANNUAL OYSTER ROAST WAS A BIG SUCCESS. DESPITE THE CURRENT UNCERTAINTY, RECOVERY ADVOCACY AND RESEARCH INITIATIVES AT VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH UNIVERSITY HAVE CONTINUED TO BLOOM. THE NEED TO FURTHER THIS GROWTH REMAINS CRITICAL ESPECIALLY AS WE SEE SUBSTANCE USE AND OVERDOSE STATISTICS RISE IN THE MIDST OF THE PANDEMIC. THE HEALING PLACE IS OFFICIALLY OPEN FOR THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED WOMEN'S PROGRAM IN THE COMMUNITY. WE SPONSORED AN APARTMENT IN THE FACILITY TO SUPPORT WOMEN IN RECOVERY. IF WE HAD TO CHOOSE A TOP FOUNDATIONAL GOAL, IT WOULD BE THE CONTINUANCE TO GROW AND BUILD COLLEGIATE RECOVERY PROGRAMS IN VIRGINIA AND OUR ROLE IN PROVIDING CONNECTING AID TO TREATMENT AND RECOVERY SUPPORT FOR BOTH FRIENDS AS WELL AS STRANGERS.
