TO REDUCE TOBACCO RELATED DISEASE AND DEATH BY EDUCATING YOUTH ABOUT THE DANGERS OF TOBACCO, ENCOURAGING COMMUNITIES TO IMPLEMENT SMOKE FREE ORDINANCES AND PROMOTING TOBACCO CESSATION SERVICES.

WE NOW HAVE A FOOD PANTRY THAT DISTRIBUTES FOOD TO LOW INCOME FAMILIES.
WE VISIT THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN STONE, GEORGE AND GREENE COUNTIES IN MISSISSIPPI TWICE EVERY WEEK. WE SHOW VIDEOS, HAND OUT LITERATURE AND PRESENT PROGRAMS DESIGNED TO KEEP STUDENTS FROM USING TOBACCO. WE PROVIDE THEM WITH A TOLL FREE PHONE NUMBER THAT THEY CAN USE TO GET HELP WITH STOPPING THE USE OF TOBACCO. OUR FUNDS COME FROM A GRANT FROM THE MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH.
WE GO TO THE CORRECTION FACILITIES IN OUR THREE COUNTY AREA ONCE PER MONTH. IT TAKES TWO DAYS TO COVER A CORRECTION FACILITY. WE PASS OUT LITERATURE, SHOW VIDEOS, GIVE OUT INCENTIVES AND OFFER COUNSELING TO HELP INMATES AND EMPLOYEES STOP THE USE OF TOBACCO AND TO PREVENT OTHERS FROM STARTING.
WE VISIT HOSPITALS IN OUR THREE COUNTY AREA ONCE PER MONTH. WE GIVE OUT INCENTIVES AND PRESENT PROGRAMS AND TALK TO EMPLOYEES AND PATIENTS ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING TOBACCO FREE.
