YWCA ST. JOSEPH IS DEDICATED TO ELIMINATING RACISM, EMPOWERING WOMEN AND PROMOTING PEACE, JUSTICE, FREEDOM AND DIGNITY FOR ALL.

SHELTER FOR ABUSED & HOMELESS WOMEN AND CHILDRENTHE YWCA SHELTER SERVES WOMEN AND CHILDREN WHO ARE VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AS WELL AS THOSE WHO ARE HOMELESS FOR OTHER REASONS. 311 ADULTS AND CHILDREN WERE PROVIDED PROTECTIVE SHELTER IN 2022 FOR A TOTAL OF 9,281 NIGHTS OF SHELTER. 1,530 HOTLINE CALLS WERE ANSWERED. CASE MANAGEMENT, ADVOCACY, COURT ADVOCACY, SPECIALIZED CHILDRENS PROGRAMS, SUPPORT GROUPS, LIFE-SKILL GROUPS, REFERRALS TO OTHER SERVICES AND INDIVIDUAL THERAPY ARE PROVIDED TO RESIDENTS AND NON-RESIDENTS IN ADDITION TO 24-HOUR CRISIS INTERVENTION SERVICES. AS A RESULT OF CONTACT WITH THE YWCA SHELTER, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SURVIVORS HAVE IMPROVED STRATEGIES FOR ENHANCING THEIR SAFETY, GAIN KNOWLEDGE OF COMMUNITY RESOURCES AND FEEL MORE HOPEFUL ABOUT THEIR FUTURE.
COMMUNITY SUPPORTTHE COMMUNITY SUPPORT TEAM SERVES WOMEN AND MEN WHO HAVE BEEN SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC OR SEXUAL VIOLENCE. AS ADULTS OR IN CHILDHOOD. DEPENDING ON THE SURVIVORS NEEDS, THESE SERVICES MAY INCLUDE HOSPITAL ADVOCACY, CRISIS INTERVENTION/SUPPORT THROUGH THE 24-HOUR HOTLINE, CASE MANAGEMENT, COURT ADVOCACY, LAW ENFORCEMENT ADVOCACY REFERRAL TO OTHER SERVICES, AND INDIVIDUAL/GROUP THERAPY. SERVICES ARE PROVIDED AT NO CHARGE. 214 INDIVIDUALS RECEIVED INDIVIDUAL THERAPY IN 2022. 78 SURVIVORS WERE PROVIDED SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT SERVICES. 635 SURVIVORS WERE ASSISTED WITH ADOVACY SERVICES. 68 HOUSEHOLDS RECEIVED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE & SUPPORTIVE SERVICES RELATED TO HOUSING & BASIC NEEDS. 28 FAMILIES WERE PROVIDED HOUSING FOR 21,112 NIGHTS OF HOUSING AND 1,228 HOURS OF SUPPORTIVE SERVICES.
CHILD CAREYWCA DISCOVERY CHILDCARE IS A STATE LICENSED CENTER THAT PROVIDES QUALITY, PROFESSIONAL CARE IN ORDER TO ENHANCE THE CHILDS EMOTIONAL, SOCIAL, PHYSICAL, AND COGNITIVE GROWTH. WE SERVE CHILDREN FROM SIX WEEKS TO SIX YEARS OF AGE FROM 6:30AM TO 5:30PM MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY. CARE WAS PROVIDED TO 66 CHILDREN IN 2022. STATE SUBSIDY PAYMENTS ARE ACCEPTED.
