TO SHARE THE LOVE OF JESUS CHRIST WITH NICARAGUA'S POOREST PEOPLE BY PARTNERING WITH THEM IN HEALTHCARE, EDUCATION, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, AND HOUSING. THEIR WORK TARGETS REMOTE LOCATIONS WHERE PEOPLE ARE SUFFERING IN DIRT-FLOOR SHACKS; WHERE THERE IS A LACK OF SANITATION, PURE WATER, AND MEDICAL CARE; AND WHERE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES ARE LIMITED.

THE ORGANIZATION BUILDS SIMPLE CONCRETE HOMES WITH A SECURE WOOD OR METAL DOOR AND A CEMENT FLOOR TO PREVENT PARASITES. THESE HOUSES ARE BUILT 25 AT A TIME AND PROVIDED TO RECIPIENT FAMILIES FOR THE COST OF BUILDING SUPPLIES FINANCED WITH NO INTEREST OVER A 10-25 YEAR PERIOD. COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION IS ESSENTIAL TO THE RAINBOW NETWORK'S HOUSING MODEL AND REFLECTS THE ORGANIZATION'S ROOTS IN HABITAT FOR HUMANITY. THE PRIDE AND EMPOWERMENT BUILT THROUGH THIS MODEL, TRANSFERS INTO RESPONSIBILITY AND LIFELONG BENEFITS FOR HOMEOWNERS AND THEIR CHILDREN. THE ORGANIZATION OPERATED IN 177 RURAL COMMUNITIES, PARTNERING WITH NEARLY 59,000 PEOPLE IN A HAND-UP FASHION. CONSTRUCTION WAS COMPLETED ON 48 HOMES WHICH WERE SUPPLEMENTED WITH POTABLE WATER, LATRINES, AND ELECTRICITY.
THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES EDUCATION FOR PRIMARY AND SECONDARY STUDENTS IN PRIVATE HOMES OR COMMUNITY BUILDINGS THAT ALSO SERVE AS SCHOOLHOUSES. MORE THAN 13,000 CHILDREN RECEIVED REINFOREMENT CLASSES IN CORE SUBJECTS AND NEARLY 1200 STUDENTS RECEIVED A HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATION.
PROFESSIONAL HEALTHCARE DOES NOT EXIST IN MOST OF THE COMMUNITIES WHERE THE ORGANIZATION OPERATES. THE ORGANIZATION'S GOAL IS TO PROVIDE AT LEAST BASIC MEDICAL SERVICES NEEDED TO RELIEVE PAIN AND SUFFERING, PLUS KEEP THE POPULATION HEALTHY AND FREE OF TREATABLE DISEASES. IT OFFERS SUPPORT TO THOSE WITH SPECIAL MEDICAL NEEDS THAT ARE BEYOND BASIC MEDICAL CARE, NOT ONLY ARRANGING FOR THE CARE, BUT ALSO ALL THE COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE SPECIAL TREATMENT AND/OR HOSPITAL NEEDED TO TREAT THE AILMENT, SURGERY OR REHABILITATION.NEARLY 21,000 MEDICAL PATIENTS WERE TREATED AND MORE THAN 3.5 MILLION MEALS WERE SERVED.
THE ORGANIZATION'S ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM PROVIDES EDUCATION AND TRAINING FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO WANT TO OPEN AND RUN A SMALL BUSINESS OF THEIR OWN. OVER 300 FAMILIES WERE TRAINED AND HELPED START A SMALL HOME OR COMMUNITY-BASED BUSINESS.
