WOLF TRAP INSTITUTE FOR EARLY LEARNING THROUGH THE ARTS IS A PROGRAM SPRINGBOARD TO LEARNING DELIVERS, FOCUSING ON EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION, SIX WEEKS THROUGH SIX YEARS. THE WOLF TRAP MODEL HAS TWO ASPECTS: BABY ARTSPLAY FOCUSED ON CHILDREN SIX WEEKS - 3 YEARS AND WOLF TRAP LITERACY AND STEM FOCUSED ON CHILDREN 4 - 6 YEARS. THE TEACHING MODEL PROVIDES EMBEDDED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TO EARLY CHILDHOOD TEACHERS, INTEGRATING MUSIC, DANCE, PERFORMING ARTS AND PUPPETRY INTO CURRICULUM, INCREASING KINDERGARTEN READINESS, WHILE ENHANCING THE INSTRUCTIONAL SKILLS OF EDUCATORS THROUGH PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. THE BABY ARTSPLAY PROVIDES PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TO CAREGIVERS, AND PARENTS, EQUIPPING THEM WITH ARTSINTEGRATED STRATEGIES THAT ENHANCE THEIR CAREGIVING, OR PARENTING SKILLS. LOUIS; ALIGN WITH MISSOURI LEARNING STANDARDS; INCLUDE MEASURABLE LEARNING OBJECTIVES; BUILD 21ST CENTURY SKILLS; OFFER AUTHENTIC, REALWORLD LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES; PROVIDE AUTONOMY, FOSTERING SCHOOL, TEACHER, AND STUDENT CHOICE; COLLABORATIVE STUDENTLED EXPERIENCES, INTEGRATING SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY IN PARTNERSHIP.
TEACHING ARTIST CREATED PROGRAMS ARE PROPRIETARY TO INDIVIDUAL TEACHING ARTIST, TARGETING ELEMENTARY THROUGH MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS. PROGRAMS ARE BASED ON THE ARTISTIC DISCIPLINE OF THE TEACHING ARTIST AND VARY FROM PERFORMING AND VISUAL ARTS, DANCE, MUSIC, PUPPETRY, STORYTELLING AND DESIGN THINKING. PROGRAMS ARE DELIVERED IN THREE FORMATS: PERFORMANCES WHICH CONSIST OF AN ASSEMBLY OF UP TO 300 STUDENTS, WORKSHOPS WHICH ARE ONE 45 TO 60 MINUTE SESSION FOR MULPLE CLASSROOMS OF THE SAME GRADE LEVEL, AND RESIDENCIES CONSISNG OF SIX TO TEN SESSIONS.
