IOWA HEARTLAND HABITAT FOR HUMANITY IS AN ECUMENICAL CHRISTIAN HOUSING MINISTRY WORKING TO ELIMINATE POVERTY HOUSING. HABITAT FOR HUMANITY WORKS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PEOPLE IN NEED OF ADEQUATE SHELTER BY PROVIDING SAFE, SIMPLE, AFFORDABLE HOUSING SO THAT ALL GOD'S CHILDREN CAN LIVE AND GROW INTO ALL THAT GOD INTENDED.

THE ORGANIZATION OBTAINS DONATIONS OF MONEY, MATERIALS, AND LABOR TO BUILD OR REHABILITATE HOMES WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF THE FUTURE HOME OWNERS. ELIGIBLE FAMILIES PURCHASE THESE HOMES FROM THE ORGANIZATION.
IOWA HEARTLAND HABITAT FOR HUMANITY RESTORE IS A DISCOUNT HOME IMPROVEMENT STORE THAT FOCUSES ON KEEPING QUALITY, USABLE BUILDING MATERIALS AND HOME GOODS OUT OF OUR LANDFILL. RESTORE ACCEPTS NEW AND USED MATERIAL DONATIONS FROM INDIVIDUALS, RETAILERS AND CONTRACTORS, AND THEN SELLS THOSE MATERIALS BACK TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC AT DEEPLY DISCOUNTED PRICES. PROCEEDS HELP BUILD HABITAT FOR HUMANITY HOMES IN THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE.
HABITAT PARTNERS WITH LOW TO MODERATE INCOME HOMEOWNERS TO PERFORM CRITICAL REPAIRS AND MODIFICATIONS ON THEIR HOMES. HABITAT CARRIES THE COST OF PURCHASED MATERIALS AS WORK IN PROCESS INVENTORY UNTIL COMPLETION OF THE HOME PROJECT. UPON COMPLETION OF THE HOME REPAIRS OR MODIFICATION, WORK IN PROCESS IS THEN CHARGED TO PROGRAM EXPENSE. CONSTRUCTION LABOR IS PROVIDED BY HABITAT VOLUNTEERS AND BY PAID CONSTRUCTION STAFF. NO VALUE IS RECOGNIZED IN THE ACCOUNTS FOR LABOR CONTRIBUTED BY HABITAT VOLUNTEERS.
