CHARLES K. BLANDIN FOUNDATION IS A RURAL-BASED, RURAL-FOCUSED PRIVATE U.S. FOUNDATION. OUR GRANTS AND WORK IN COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND PUBLIC POLICY SUPPORT RURAL MINNESOTA COMMUNITIES TO CULTIVATE RESOURCES - PEOPLE, PLACES AND RELATIONSHIPS - THAT LEAD TO STRONG, REGENERATIVE FUTURES.COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT: THIS NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED PROGRAM SERVES COMMUNITY TEAMS; PARTICIPANTS FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE REFLECT THEIR COMMUNITY'S DIVERSITY. BUILDS COMPETENCIES IN: 1) FRAMING OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES THAT LEAD TO EFFECTIVE ACTION, 2) BUILDING SOCIAL CAPITAL FOR COLLABORATION AND RESOURCE SHARING AND 3) MOBILIZING A CRITICAL MASS OF RESOURCES TO ACHIEVE SPECIFIC OUTCOMES. AN INTENSIVE RESIDENTIAL RETREAT, ALONG WITH ONGOING WORKSHOPS, TRAINS LEADERS IN COMMUNICATIONS, CONFLICT MANAGEMENT, NETWORKING AND STAKEHOLDER ANALYSIS. THE PROGRAM WENT THROUGH EXTENSIVE EVALUATION IN 2021 TO UNDERSTAND HOW RURAL LEADERS MAY BE BEST SUPPORTED IN THE FUTURE.
PUBLIC POLICY AND ENGAGEMENT: A STRONG, REGENERATIVE FUTURE FOR RURAL MINNESOTA DEPENDS IN PART ON RURAL PERSPECTIVES BEING WELL-REPRESENTED IN POLICY DIALOG. FOUNDATION POLICY WORK CURRENTLY FOCUSES ON BROADBAND AND STUDENT SUCCESS. BROADBAND (HIGH-SPEED INTERNET) IS CRUCIAL INFRASTRUCTURE FOR COMMUNITIES TO THRIVE. THE BLANDIN COMMUNITY BROADBAND PROGRAM ENGAGED AT LOCAL, STATE AND FEDERAL LEVELS ON POLICY THAT SUPPORTS RURAL ACCESS TO ROBUST BROADBAND, TO DECREASE DISPARITIES BETWEEN RURAL AND URBAN BROADBAND ACCESS. STUDENT SUCCESS: A STRONG START IN LIFE - EDUCATION, NURTURING, DISCOVERY, GROWTH, WORK - SETS THE FOUNDATION AND DIRECTION FOR THE LIVES OF INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITIES ALIKE.
