IN 2021 THE FOUNDATION OPERATED (11) NOMANDIC PRESCHOOLS, WITH AN AVERAGE TOTAL OF 335 CHILDREN AGES 2-6. THE FOUNDATION PROVIDES TEACHING MATERIALS, FOOD, SALARIES FOR A TEACHER AND A COOK. THE CHILDREN ARE TAUGHT NUMBERS, ALPHABET AND SIMPLE ENGLISH.
THE FOUNDATION ASSISTED (3) GOVERNMENT RUN PRIMARY SCHOOLS WITH THE AVERAGE TOTAL OF 1154 STUDENTS. IN 2021, DUE TO THE COVID19 PANDEMIC DISRUPTION OF THE 2020 SCHOOL CALENDAR ALL SCHOOLS HAD (4) INSTEAD OF USUAL (3) TERMS. THE FOUNDATION PROVIDED FOOD, UNIFORMS, TEXTBOOKS, LIBRARY SUPPLIES, EXAM MATERIALS, DORMITORY SUPPLIES, (2) DAILY MEALS FOR BOARDERS (ABOUT 50% OF THE STUDENT BODY) AND (18) ADDITIONAL TEACHERS. THE FOUNDATION ALSO ORGANIZED DAILY AFTER CLASS READING, WRITING AND COMPREHENSION INSTRUCTIONS IN EACH SCHOOL.
THE FOUNDATION OPERATED SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR (130) HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE STUDENTS. ALL STUDENTS RECEIVE FULL SCHOLARSHIP THAT COVERS ALL EXPENSES. THE FOUNDATION EMPLOYES (2) MENTORS WHO HELP STUDENTS NAVIGATE THROUGH THE EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM AND ORGANIZE REMEDIAL CLASSES DURING SCHOOL HOLIDAYS. IN ADDITION, THE FOUNDATION PROVIDED COMPUTERS TO A NUMBER OF COLLEGE STUDENTS, WHICH HAS BECEOME A NEW REQUIREMENT IN MANY COLLEGES SINCE THE COVID19 PANDEMIC'S INTRODUCTION OF ONLINE CLASSES.
THE FOUNDATION RAISED FUNDS FOR THE SOLAR PUMP, A 4KM LONG PIPELINE AND THE NEW WATER TANK FOR LEARATA PRIMARY SCHOOL, WHICH BECAME OPERATIONAL IN JANUARY 2022. THE FOUNDATION HIRED ONE OF THE GRADUATES OF ITS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM AS AN INTERN TO HELP ALL PRIMARY SCHOOL GRADUATES WHO DID NOT QUALIFY FOR THE FOUNDATION'S SCHOLARSHOP, SEARCH AND APPLY FOR OTHER AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIPS.
