IN FY 2021, ACTION FUND STAFF CONTINUED OUR WORK WITH ALLIES AT THE MINNESOTA LEGISLATURE AND THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE TO ADVANCE BILLS TO PROTECT AND EXPAND ACCESS TO BIRTH CONTROL, AND INCREASE FUNDING FOR REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CARE. UNFORTUNATELY, THESE INITIATIVES WERE QUICKLY PUT ON HOLD DUE TO THE NEED TO RESPOND TO THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC. INSTEAD, ACTION FUND STAFF PIVOTED TO WORK WITH EXECUTIVE BRANCH AGENCIES AND THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE TO ENSURE THAT SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CARE SERVICES WERE MAINTAINED THROUGHOUT THE PANDEMIC. STAFF MONITORED STATE AND FEDERAL COVID-19 RELIEF LEGISLATION TO EVALUATE FOR IMPACT ON HEALTH CENTERS, SERVICES, STAFF AND PATIENTS.(CONTINUED IN SCHEDULE O)ACTION FUND STAFF IN ALL THREE STATES OPERATED A SOPHISTICATED DIGITAL PROGRAM THAT GENERATED NEARLY 26,000 WEBSITE VISITS, 20 BLOG POSTS, 350 NEW FACEBOOK FOLLOWERS, 285 NEW TWITTER LIKES, AND 580 NEW INSTAGRAM FOLLOWERS.IN MINNESOTA, WE GREW OUR STAFF AND VOLUNTEER BASE IN THE ROCHESTER AREA, ORGANIZED SUPPORTERS TO LOBBY THEIR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS TO REJECT THE GAG RULE ON THE TITLE X PROGRAM, AND GREW OUR YOUTH AND CAMPUS ORGANIZING PROGRAM TO 12 CHAPTERS.MINNESOTA YOUTH FROM OUR PLANNED PARENTHOOD GENERATION ACTION CAMPUS CHAPTERS ATTENDED PLANNED PARENTHOOD ACTION FUND'S PEOPLE'S SUMMIT IN WASHINGTON DC.THEY WERE TRAINED ON ORGANIZING TACTICS, ATTENDED LOBBY DAY WITH THEIR LEGISLATORS TO SHARE STORIES ON HOW THE TITLE X GAG RULE AFFECTS THEM, AND JOINED WITH OTHER YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY FOR A YOUTH ACTION SUMMIT.DURING THE MINNESOTA LEGISLATIVE SESSION, ACTION FUND STAFF ENGAGED THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE THROUGH GRASSROOTS ORGANIZING, TEXT BANKING, AND DIGITAL OUTREACH AND ADVERTISING TO COMBAT ANTI-REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH BILLS AND ADVANCE PROACTIVE BILLS TO PROTECT AND EXPAND ACCESS TO CONTRACEPTION. IN ADDITION, WE JOINED FORCES WITH OUR COALITION PARTNERS FOR A REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM LOBBY DAY.MINNESOTA VOLUNTEERS PUT IN 300 HOURS CONTACTING OVER 6,000 VOTERS ENCOURAGING THEM TO VOTE IN THE PRIMARY ELECTION THROUGH PHONE BANKS AND RELATIONAL ORGANIZING. OUR YOUTH PROGRAM HELD TRAININGS IN FOUR CITIES ACROSS THE STATE WITH COALITION PARTNERS TO EDUCATE AND ENGAGE YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE PRIMARY AND CAUCUS PROCESSES.IN HONOR OF THE ANNIVERSARY OF ROE V. WADE, MINNESOTA VOLUNTEERS GATHERED TO MAKE CALLS TO VOTERS ABOUT THE PRIMARY ELECTION. MINNESOTA HOUSE SPEAKER HORTMAN JOINED US TO KICK OFF THE NIGHT, MOTIVATING VOLUNTEERS TO MAKE MORE THAN 1,800 CALLS IN AN HOUR. THE STAR TRIBUNE ATTENDED AND INCLUDED OUR EVENT IN THEIR WRITE UP OF THE ROE V. WADE ANNIVERSARY.THE ACTION FUND HELD A SERIES CALLED COFFEE WITH CHAMPIONS WHERE WE DISCUSSED THE STATUS OF REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS WITH REPRESENTATIVES ANGIE CRAIG AND DEAN PHILLIPS. THE LAST EVENT IN THE SERIES WAS SET TO BE WITH ATTORNEY GENERAL KEITH ELLISON, BUT WAS CANCELLED DUE TO THE PANDEMIC.STAFF IN MINNESOTA RAN A TEEN COUNCIL LOBBY DAY AT THE STATE CAPITOL. WORKING WITH EDUCATION AND OUTREACH STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS FROM DULUTH, ROCHESTER, AND THE TWIN CITIES. 52 TEENS CAME TO ST. PAUL TO LOBBY FOR COMPREHENSIVE SEX EDUCATION. THEY WERE TRAINED BY ACTION FUND STAFF AND MET WITH 34 LEGISLATORS THROUGHOUT THE COURSE OF A 2-DAY RETREAT.STAFF ATTENDED ATTORNEY GENERAL ELLISON'S ROUNDTABLE ON WOMEN'S ECONOMIC SECURITY FOR WOMEN'S EQUALITY DAY. AT THIS EVENT, STAFF UPDATED THE ATTORNEY GENERAL, STAFF, AND PARTNERS ABOUT THE TITLE X GAG RULE AND ITS HARMFUL IMPACTS ON MINNESOTANS.IN MINNESOTA, WE CONTINUED TO EXPAND OUR YOUTH ORGANIZING PROGRAM, ESPECIALLY AMONG OUR HIGH SCHOOL GROUPS. WE TRAINED IN 13 INTERNS WHO LED THEIR PEERS IN ELECTION WORK, LEGISLATIVE ACCOUNTABILITY, AND EDUCATIONAL EVENTS. WE ALSO ADDED AN ADDITIONAL CHAPTER IN WHITE BEAR LAKE AND OUR ROCHESTER TEAM WORKED CLOSELY WITH VARIOUS GROUPS AT THE MEDICAL SCHOOL TO CO-HOST EVENTS.IN FY20 WE GREW OUR STAFF AND OUR BASE OF SUPPORTERS IN THE ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA AREA. WE ENGAGED SUPPORTERS IN ADVOCACY AND LOBBYING THEIR MEMBER OF CONGRESS AGAINST THE TITLE X GAG RULE, BUILT A TEAM OF VOLUNTEERS, MADE CONNECTIONS WITH ORGANIZATIONS IN THE COMMUNITY, AND HELD NUMEROUS TEAM BUILDING, EDUCATION, AND ACTION ORIENTED EVENTS. WE ALSO HELD A REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS ROUNDUP EVENT IN ROCHESTER THAT INCLUDED A PANEL OF TWO LOCAL STATE REPRESENTATIVES AND TWO LOCAL ACTIVISTS, DISCUSSING THE STATE OF REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CARE IN MINNESOTA.NORTH DAKOTA STAFF PRESENTED AT THE PLANNED PARENTHOOD ACTION FUND STATE LEGISLATIVE SUMMIT IN WASHINGTON, DC. THE PANEL WAS FOCUSED ON STARTING A NETWORK OF REPUBLICAN ALLIES AND EXPANDING OUTREACH TO NON-TRADITIONAL GROUPS.NORTH DAKOTA STAFF HOSTED A LUNCH AND LEARN EVENT WITH REP. JOSHUA BOSCHEE, THE STATE'S FIRST OPENLY GAY ELECTED OFFICIAL. ACTIVISTS AND ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEMBERS LEARNED HOW TO BE SUPPORTIVE ALLIES TO THE LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY.NORTH DAKOTA STAFF PARTNERED WITH THE NORTH DAKOTA WOMEN'S NETWORK TO ORGANIZE A RALLY OUTSIDE SEN HOEVEN'S OFFICE TO ENCOURAGE HIM TO VOTE AGAINST PRESIDENT TRUMP'S FEDERAL COURT NOMINEES.SOUTH DAKOTA STAFF WORKED DILIGENTLY THROUGH THE 2020 LEGISLATIVE SESSION TO HELP DEFEAT HB1057, WHICH PROHIBITED DOCTORS FROM PROVIDING GENDER REASSIGNMENT SURGERIES FOR MINORS. THE BILL WAS DEFEATED WITH THE TESTIMONY OF DOCTORS AND PROVIDERS IN THE STATE, AS WELL AS TRANSGENDER INDIVIDUALS.SOUTH DAKOTA STAFF MONITORED THE SOUTH DAKOTA LEGISLATIVE RULES COMMITTEE WHICH MET TO DISCUSS FURTHER CHANGES TO THE MANDATORY ABORTION PROCEDURE CONSENT FORM THAT BOTH PLANNED PARENTHOOD AND OTHER FACILITIES IN THE STATE USE. NO ADDITIONAL CHANGES TO THE CONSENT FORM WERE MADE IN CY2020.
