Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
LEGISLATIVE, LEGAL, EDUCATIONAL, MEDIA, AND OTHER SERVICES FOCUSED ON COMMON ISSUES THAT AFFECT GREATER MINNESOTA CITIES INCLUDING LOCAL GOVERNMENT AID AND PROPERTY TAXES. WE WORKED WITH LEGISLATORS AND OTHER CITY GROUPS TO UPDATE THE FORMULA AND INCREASE LGA FUNDING BY $80 MILLION.
THE CGMC PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES TO ITS MEMBERS ON LABOR ISSUES THAT CITIES FACE, INCLUDING A SERIES OF WEBINARS, PRESENTATIONS AT CONFERENCES, REGULAR NEWSLETTER AND A DATABASE OF INFORMATION ON ARBITRATIONS.
LEGISLATIVE, LEGAL, EDUCATIONAL, MEDIA, AND OTHER SERVICES FOR ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES FOCUSED ON FUNDING AND REGULATION. WE WORKED WITH OTHER STAKEHOLDERS TO CREATE AND FUND A PROGRAM TO INVENTORY AND REPLACE LEAD PIPES THAT WAS FUNDED AT $240 MILLION AND TO PUT A RECORD AMOUNT OF FUNDING FOR WATER INFRASTRUCTURE IN A BONDING BILL. WE ALSO WORKED TO PREVENT LEGISLATION THAT WOULD HAVE MADE IT DIFFICULT FOR OUR COMMUNITIES TO OBTAIN CLEAN WATER FUNDING AND TO NARROW LEGISLATION THAT WOULD HAVE MADE ECONOMIC GROWTH IN GREATER MINNESOTA DIFFICULT.
LEGISLATIVE, LEGAL, EDUCATIONAL, MEDIA, AND OTHER SERVICES REGARDING ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND TRANSPORTATION. THIS LEGISLATIVE SESSION WE SUCCESSFULLY ADVOCATED FOR FUNDING TO THE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE (BDPI) PROGRAM, FOR HOUSING INFRASTRUCTURE IN GREATER MINNESOTA AND FOR FUNDING RELATED TO CHILD CARE PROGRAMS. WE WORKED WITH OTHER STAKEHOLDERS TO FINALLY ACHIEVE A PERMANENT FUNDING SOURCE FOR SMALL CITY STREETS.
