FOSTERING INDEPENDENCE (OLDER ADULT SERVICES, HOUSING FOR OLDER ADULTS AND PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES, DISABILITY SERVICES, MENTAL HEALTH)VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA OF MINNESOTA FOSTERS THE HEALTH AND INDEPENDENCE OF OLDER ADULTS, PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES, AND THOSE STRUGGLING WITH MENTAL HEALTH THROUGH QUALITY AFFORDABLE HOUSING, BEHAVIORAL AND MENTAL HEALTH, AND COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICES. SERVICES AIM TO RESTORE, MAINTAIN, AND PROMOTE INDEPENDENCE, BY SUPPORTING PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL, AND SPIRITUAL WELL-BEING. IMPACTS FROM LAST YEAR INCLUDE: 3,596 OLDER ADULTS AND PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES IN PUBLIC HOUSING RECEIVED IN-HOME SUPPORT OR COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKER SERVICES 2,321 OLDER ADULTS, PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES, CAREGIVERS, AND PROFESSIONALS RECEIVED EDUCATION, SUPPORT, AND SERVICES THAT BALANCED PROTECTION OF ADULTS WHOSE CAPACITY IS IN QUESTION WITH PROMOTING THE BENEFITS OF SELF-DETERMINATION 1,260 OLDER ADULTS AND PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES RECEIVED DAILY, NUTRITIOUS MEALS 957 CHILDREN AND ADULTS RECEIVED MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT AND TREATMENT 818 AFRICAN AMERICAN, EAST AFRICAN, AND HMONG OLDER ADULTS AND THEIR CAREGIVERS RECEIVED CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE SUPPORT, INFORMATION, AND RESOURCES ON ALZHEIMER'S AND RELATED DEMENTIAS 676 OLDER ADULTS AND INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES RESIDED WITHIN AFFORDABLE, SERVICE-ENRICHED HOUSING 397 AFRICAN AMERICAN AND HMONG OLDER ADULTS CONNECTED WITH COMMUNITY-BASED SUPPORTIVE SERVICES


ENCOURAGING POSITIVE DEVELOPMENT (EDUCATION, FOSTER CARE, YOUTH RESIDENTIAL SERVICES, AND YOUTH SHELTER SERVICES)VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA OF MINNESOTA BELIEVES THAT ALL YOUNG PEOPLE HAVE THE ABILITY TO REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL AND WORKS TO PREPARE CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS FOR SUCCESS IN SCHOOL, CAREER, AND LIFE. OVER THE YEARS, VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA OF MINNESOTA HAS HELPED THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS FLOURISH THROUGH PROMOTING POSITIVE DEVELOPMENT, HEALTH, AND ACADEMIC SUCCESS. IMPACTS FROM LAST YEAR INCLUDE: 7,326 YOUNG PEOPLE STAYED ENGAGED IN SCHOOL 168 KIDS WITH CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY AND/OR MENTAL HEALTH ILLNESS RECEIVED RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT 87 YOUNG PEOPLE SAFELY HOUSED IN SHELTER 58 CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS WITH BEHAVIORAL OR EMOTIONAL ISSUES FOUND A HOME IN THERAPEUTIC FOSTER CARE 47 FOSTER PARENTS SUPPORTED


PROMOTING SELF-SUFFICIENCY (FAMILY SUPPORTIVE AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND COMMUNITY JUSTICE)VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA OF MINNESOTA STRIVES TO HELP INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES, AND COMMUNITIES ATTAIN A SELF-SUFFICIENT, HEALTHY, AND SUSTAINABLE FUTURE. VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA UNDERSTANDS THAT HOUSING IS MORE THAN JUST A PLACE TO SLEEP, IT IS THE FOUNDATION FOR LIFE AND AN AVENUE FOR PROMOTING HUMAN DIGNITY. HIGH-QUALITY, STABLE HOUSING, PARTICULARLY FOR LOW- AND MODERATE-INCOME HOUSEHOLDS, IS AN IMPORTANT PLATFORM FOR FAMILIES TO ACHIEVE HEALTH, WELL-BEING, AND ECONOMIC STABILITY. IMPACTS FROM LAST YEAR INCLUDE: 459 FAMILY MEMBERS REMAINED STABLY HOUSED 58 INDIVIDUALS FACING SIGNIFICANT BARRIERS TO FINDING WORK, MAINTAINED EMPLOYMENTFOR OVER 50 YEARS, VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA OF MINNESOTA HAS PROVIDED SERVICES TO HELP INDIVIDUALS WITH A CRIMINAL RECORD SUCCESSFULLY TRANSITION FROM PRISON TO A PRODUCTIVE LIFE IN THE COMMUNITY. SERVICES INCLUDE RESIDENTIAL RE-ENTRY CENTERS AND WORK-RELEASE PROGRAMS, AS WELL AS ONE OF THE STATE'S LONGEST STANDING AND MOST SUCCESSFUL TRANSITIONAL MENTORING PROGRAMS FOR THOSE LEAVING INCARCERATION. IMPACTS FROM LAST YEAR INCLUDE: 1,395 MEN AND WOMEN RECEIVED RELATIONSHIP-BASED MENTORING AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICE 400 MEN AND WOMEN SUPPORTED IN THE TRANSITION BACK TO COMMUNITY WITH TRANSITIONAL HOUSING OR HOME-BASED SUPPORT 351 CURRENTLY OR PREVIOUSLY INCARCERATED MEN AND WOMEN CONNECTED WITH VOLUNTEER MENTORS
