SOAR HAS OVER 39 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE SUPPORTING LOW-INCOME INDIVIDUALS TO ADDRESS PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL BARRIERS THAT KEEP THEM FROM SECURING AND MAINTAINING SUSTAINABLE EMPLOYMENT. SOAR IMPLEMENTS TWO PROGRAMS. EMPLOYMENT SERVICES ASSISTS CLIENTS 1:1 TO CREATE CAREER & EDUCATIONAL ACTION PLANS, BUILD SOFT SKILLS & JOB SEARCH SKILLS, DEVELOP RESUMES & APPLICATIONS, CONNECT TO JOB TRAININGS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE TRADES & POST-SECONDARY INSTITUTIONS, CONNECT TO APPRENTICESHIP OPPORTUNITIES & ASSIST WITH JOB RETENTION. IN FY21-22, SOAR WORKED WITH 437 CLIENTS; 88% OF WHO PARTICIPATED IN WORKSHOPS INCREASED THEIR WORK READINESS KNOWLEDGE; 53% OF CLIENTS WHO ENROLLED IN EDUCATIONAL SERVICES, OBTAINED A DIPLOMA, DEGREE, CREDENTIAL OR CERTIFICATION; AND 74% OF JOB SEEKERS GOT A JOB WITH AN AVERAGE WAGE OF 15.15/HOUR.
RE-ENTRY SERVICES REDUCES RECIDIVISM BY PROVIDING 1:1 CASE MANAGEMENT & SUPPORT SERVICES TO INDIVIDUALS TRANSITIONING OUT OF INCARCERATION. THE THREE-YEAR RECIDIVISM RATE FOR CLIENTS WHO ACCESS THIS PROGRAM IS 16.2% IN COMPARISON TO THE NATIONAL AVERAGE OF 65%.
