DAMASCUS WAY RE-ENTRY CENTER INC. IS A CHRIST CENTERED RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM FOR MEN LEAVING THE MINNESOTA PRISON SYSTEM. THE GOAL IS TO ASSIST THEM IN RETURNING TO SOCIETY AFTER THEIR TIME AT DAMASCUS WAY AS PRODUCTIVE MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY. DAMASCUS WAY HAS A COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT WITH THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS TO ACCEPT VOLUNTARY CLIENTS ENROLLED IN INTENSIVE SUPERVISED RELEASE, SUPERVISED RELEASE OR WORK RELEASE. THE FOCUS OF THE PROGRAM INCLUDES FINDING AND HOLDING FULL TIME EMPLOYMENT, BECOMING INVOLVED IN A LOCAL CHURCH AND SUPPORT GROUPS, ATTENDING WEEKLY CHAPEL AND BIBLE STUDY AT THE FACILITY. THERE IS ALSO A STRONG EMPHASIS PLACED ON ACCOUNTABILITY OF TIME AND BEHAVIOR AND ON A MENTORING RELATIONSHIP WITH AN ASSIGNED STAFF.

DAMASCUS WAY OPENED ITS FOURTH SITE IN CONTRACTUAL RELATIONSHIP WITH SCOTT COUNTY. BETWEEN THE FOUR SITES, DAMASCUS WAY SERVED OVER 230 MEN AT VARYING CAPACITY. THIS INCLUDES SERVING OVER 65,000 MEALS TO PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS AND 3,000 LIFE COACHING AND COORDINATED SERVICES. WE ALSO PROVIDED OVER 3,000 LIFE COACHING/COUNSELING SESSIONS BY QUALIFIED AND TRAINED STAFF. AT EVERY SESSION THERE IS AN OPPORTUNITY PROVIDED FOR PRAYER AND REFLECTION. WE OFFERED FINANCIAL LITERACY COURSES IN A PARTNERSHIP WITH THINK MUTUAL BANK AND MOVED RESIDENTS ON A HOUSING CAPACITY CONTINUUM. THIS WAS SUPPORTED BY THE MAJORITY OF PARTICIPANTS GAINING SOME SORT OF EMPLOYMENT. AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE PROGRAMMING THE MAJORITY OF THE RESIDENTS TRANSITIONED INTO A SAFE AND SOBER LIVING SITUATION IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT. EACH RESIDENT SPENT AT LEAST ONE HOUR IN A SUPPORT GROUP SETTING. THIS INCLUDES; NARCOTICS AND/OR ALCOHOLIC ANONYMOUS, MEN'S SUPPORT GROUP, ATTENDING A RELIGIOUS GROUP, ETC. THE OUTCOME OF THIS WAS BUILDING A HEALTHY SUPPORT GROUP THAT WOULD FOLLOW THEM INTO THEIR TRANSITION BACK INTO THEIR COMMUNITY OF RETURN.THERE WERE ALSO NEW FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES THAT CAME TO DAMASCUS WAY INCLUDING; LOCAL FOUNDATIONS, CHURCHES, STATE GRANTS INCLUDING MINNESOTA HOUSING, ETC.WE HAVE ALSO ADDED NEW STAFF, NEW BOARD MEMBERS AND CREATED A NEW ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE.
