DEER RIVER HEALTHCARE CENTER, INC., DBA ESSENTIA HEALTH DEER RIVER, IS ORGANIZED AND OPERATED EXCLUSIVELY FOR CHARITABLE, EDUCATIONAL, AND SCIENTIFIC PURPOSES. MORE SPECIFICALLY, ESSENTIA HEALTH DEER RIVER IS CREATED AND ORGANIZED TO OWN, MAINTAIN, OPERATE AND CONDUCT, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, AND TO ASSIST AND COORDINATE ACTIVITIES OF FACILITIES FOR HEALTH CARE, EDUCATION, AND CARE FOR THE AGED AND SOCIAL SERVICES, INCLUDING CHARITABLE CARE TO PERSONS UNABLE TO PAY.ESSENTIA HEALTH DEER RIVER HAS A 20-BED CRITICAL ACCESS HOSPITAL AND MULTI-SPECIALTY CLINICS SERVING ITASCA COUNTY AND NORTHEASTERN CASS COUNTY. ESSENTIA HEALTH DEER RIVER IS A LEVEL IV TRAUMA CENTER AND AN ACUTE STROKE READY HOSPITAL. IT OFFERS EMERGENCY CARE 24 HOURS A DAY, SEVEN DAYS A WEEK.ESSENTIA HEALTH DEER RIVER HAS A SKILLED NURSING FACILITY CONNECTED TO THE HOSPITAL THAT PROVIDES 24 HOUR SKILLED NURSING AND PERSONAL CARE. RESIDENTS HAVE ACCESS TO PHYSICAL, OCCUPATIONAL, AND SPEECH THERAPIES. IN ADDITION, ESSENTIA HEALTH DEER RIVER'S SENIOR LIVING APARTMENTS PROVIDE A FULL SPECTRUM OF SENIOR LIVING OPPORTUNITIES.ESSENTIA HEALTH DEER RIVER EMPLOYS NEARLY 150 FULL TIME EQUIVALENTS. THE HOSPITAL PROVIDED APPROXIMATELY 1,600 HOSPITAL PATIENT DAYS AND 28,000 OUTPATIENT VISITS DURING THE FISCAL YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2022. THE CLINICS HAD OVER 13,000 ENCOUNTERS AND THE SKILLED NURSING FACILITY PROVIDED NEARLY 7,000 RESIDENT DAYS DURING THE SAME TIME PERIOD.DURING THE FISCAL YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2022, ESSENTIA HEALTH DEER RIVER PROVIDED THE FOLLOWING COMMUNITY BENEFITS: $142,000 IN CHARITY CARE, $1.2 MILLION COSTS IN EXCESS OF MEDICAID PAYMENTS, $24,000 IN COMMUNITY SERVICES, AND $45,000 IN HEALTH PROFESSION EDUCATION.
