THE PROGRAM PROVIDED QUALITY AND INNOVATIVE HIPPOTHERAPY SERVICES BY LICENSED AND SPECIALLY TRAINED PROFESSIONALS. IN 2021, MORE THAN 3,600 SESSIONS WERE PROVIDED TO INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS. SESSIONS MAY HAVE UP TO 20 RIDERS PER SESSION SUCH AS SCHOOL GROUPS OR AS FEW AS ONE RIDER SUCH AS HIPPOTHERAPY. RIDERS INCLUDED SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN ON A WEEKLY BASIS, COMPLETED OBJECTIVE GAIT ASSESSMENT PRE AND POST THERAPY TO DOCUMENT CLINICAL PROGRESS, AND PROVIDED ADULT HIPPOTHERAPY AND ADAPTIVE RIDING PROGRAMS. THESE THERAPIES ARE NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE THOUGH MANY COUNTIES PROVIDE COVERAGE THROUGH WAIVER PROGRAMS. THE COST OF PROGRAMMING IS ALSO COVERED BY MINIMUM OUT OF POCKET PATIENT FEES, GRANTS, DONATIONS, AND FUNDRAISING EVENTS. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO HAS A PROGRAM CALLED TAKING THE LEAD WHICH USES THE INTERACTION WITH THE HORSES AND PEERS TO DEVELOP SELF-ESTEEM AND COMMUNICATION IN YOUNG BOYS AND GIRLS.
