CONSERVATION: MNA FOCUSES ON PROTECTING CRITICAL HABITAT FOR MICHIGAN'S RARE, THREATENED AND ENDANGERED SPECIES AND SPECIES OF SPECIAL CONCERN AS IDENTIFIED IN THE STATE OF MICHIGAN'S FEDERALLY APPROVED 2015 STATE WILDLIFE ACTION PLAN. IN FYE 2023 MNA CONTINUED TO ACQUIRE MORE CRITICAL HABITAT FOR RARE SPECIES AND TO RESTORE AND ENHANCE HABITAT ON PUBLIC AND PRIVATE LAND ACROSS THE STATE THROUGH PRESCRIBED BURNS, INVASIVE SPECIES REMOVAL AND OTHER ACTIONS.
EDUCATION & OUTREACH: THE MICHIGAN NATURE ASSOCIATION PROVIDES A WIDE ARRAY OF ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS. FYE 2023 ACTIVITIES INCLUDED PROVIDING ENVIRONMENTAL MINI-GRANTS FOR K-12 STUDENTS; ECOLOGICAL RESEARCH PROJECTS AT SANCTUARIES CONDUCTED BY UNIVERSITY STUDENTS AND FACULTY; AND SPECIFIC PROGRAMS THROUGH STATEWIDE PUBLIC/PARTNERSHIPS SUCH AS THE MICHIGAN VERNAL POOLS PARTNERSHIP.
