TO CONTINUE TO CONDUCT, OPERATE, MAINTAIN, SPONSOR AND PROMOTE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A SPECIALIZED GROUP OF THE AMERICAN OSTEOPATHIC ASSOCIATION AND TO CONTINUE TO ENCOURAGE RESEARCH AND STUDY IN THE SCIENCE AND PRACTICE OF ORTHOPEDICS FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL MANKIND.

THROUGH ITS CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION PLANNING COMMITTEE, THE ACADEMY PROVIDES QUALITY EDUCATION THROUGH ACTIVITIES THAT INCLUDE QUALITY SPEAKERS ON A VARIETY OF TOPICS ON ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY. THE BENEFIT OF DIDACTIC LECTURES AND HANDS-ON PROGRAMS AND SIMULATION LABS PROVIDE THE RESOURCES NEEDED BY AOAO MEMBERS TO PROVIDE SUCH SAFE AND QUALITY HEALTHCARE TO PATIENTS.


THE ACADEMY PROVIDES ITS MEMBERS WITH A PERIODIC NEWSLETTER, JOURNAL AND INFORMATIVE WEBSITE THAT COMMUNICATES ADVOCACY OF THE OSTEOPATHIC ORTHOPEDIC PROFESSION, UPDATES ON MEMBER SERVICES, HISTORICAL DATA AND SCIENTIFIC ARTICLES OF INTEREST TO THE ORTHOPEDIC SURGEONS. THE ACADEMY ALSO PROVIDES AN OPPORTUNITY FOR SURGEON MEMBERS TO PROVIDE THEIR PRACTICE INFORMATION TO THE PUBLIC THROUGH ITS WEBSITE.


THROUGH ITS EVALUATING COMMITTEE, THE ACADEMY RECOMMENDS APPROVAL FOR OSTEOPATHIC ORTHOPEDIC RESIDENCY TRAINING TO THE AMERICAN OSTEOPATHIC ASSOCIATION (AOA), THE ACCREDITING BODY, EVALUATION AND/OR IMPROVEMENT OF CURRENT OSTEOPATHIC ORTHOPEDIC RESIDENCY PROGRAMS UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE AOA, AND THE MAINTENANCE/UPGRADING OF COMPLIMENTARY RESIDENT CASE LOGGING SERVICES.
