Part 3 - Line 4a
BAAY THEATRE: WE PROVIDE CHILDREN WITH A SAFE AND NURTURING ENVIRONMENT TO STUDY THEATRE, DANCE, CHOIR, MUSIC, AND VISUAL ARTS. IN ADDITION TO BUILDING ARTISTIC SKILLS, BAAY IS COMMITTED TO FOSTERING RESPECT, COOPERATION, AND SELF-CONFIDENCE IN YOUNG PEOPLE. THIS YEAR, WE RECEIVED 708 ENROLLMENTS IN OUR 45 DIFFERENT COURSES AT OUR DOWNTOWN THEATRE LOCATION. 21 OF THOSE PROGRAMS CULMINATED IN PERFORMANCES, INCLUDING ORIGINAL PRODUCTIONS WRITTEN BY STAFF AND STUDENTS, AS WELL AS FULL MUSICALS: ALICE IN WONDERLAND, THE LIGHTNING THIEF, AND SPRING AWAKENING. WE HELD THE SECOND ANNUAL OUTDOOR MUSICAL THEATRE SUMMER PROGRAM CALLED CAMP LARRABAAY AT LARRABEE STATE PARK, AND INTRODUCED A NEW PROGRAM FOR AGES 15-18 CALLED STATE STREET THEATRE COMPANY (SSTC) WITH PERFORMANCES AT THE MOUNT BAKER THEATRE. OUR STAFF ALSO OFFERED ONGOING PRIVATE VOICE LESSONS TO 10 DIFFERENT STUDENTS. BAAY SUPPORTED THE PARTICIPATION OF 46 STUDENTS THROUGH FULL OR PARTIAL TUITION WAIVERS.
BAAY EDUARTS: IN THE FALL OF 2021, WE REVIVED OUR IN-PERSON AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM. BAAY EDUARTS WAS LARGELY ON HIATUS DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC BECAUSE WHATCOM COUNTY SCHOOLS WERE NOT HOLDING IN-PERSON OFFERINGS FOR STUDENTS. THE EDUARTS PROGRAM CARRIES BAAYS PHILOSOPHY AND LEARNING ENVIRONMENT INTO LOCAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS. THROUGH THIS PROGRAM, WE OFFER PERFORMING AND VISUAL ARTS CLASSES AFTER REGULAR SCHOOL HOURS, ON SCHOOL CAMPUSES, TO SUPPLEMENT STUDENTS EDUCATIONS AND PROVIDE CHILD CARE. 251 STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN OUR PROGRAMS THIS FISCAL YEAR, IN 16 UNIQUE PLAYS, ARTS CLASSES, AND MUSIC CLASSES. BAAY WAS ABLE TO SUPPORT THE ENROLLMENT OF 10 OF THOSE CHILDREN BY PROVIDING THEIR FAMILIES WITH TUITION WAIVERS.
