Part 3 - Line 4a
MICHIGAN PEACE TEAM (MPT) SEEKS TO STRENGTHEN AND STABILIZE OUR PRESENCE INTERNATIONALLY, AND TO RESPOND TO OUR EVER-INCREASING REQUESTS FOR NONVIOLENCE TRAININGS AND PEACE TEAMS WITHIN THE UNITED STATES. MPT ACHIEVES THESE GOALS BY CONTINUING TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF NONVIOLENCE TRAINERS, THE NUMBER OF VIOLENCE DE-ESCALATION TRAININGS OFFERED AND MAXIMIZING THE POOL OF POTENTIAL PEACE TEAM PARTICIPANTS. MPT ALSO CONTINUES TO NETWORK WITH COMMUNITIES, ORGANIZATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS, ALL WORKING FOR PEACE AND JUSTICE.
MICHIGAN PEACE TEAM (MPT) OFFERED TRAININGS TO ORDINARY CITIZENS IN CREATIVE, BOLD, ACTIVE NONVIOLENT CONFLICT INTERVENTIONS. THE PEOPLE TRAINED IN THESE NONVIOLENCE SKILLS WERE VETTED AND PREPARED TO PARTICIPATE ON PEACE TEAMS. IT IS DIFFICULT TO ASCERTAIN HOW MANY PEOPLE OUR PEACE TEAM'S WORK HAS IMPACTED. NOT ONLY DOES MPT IMPACT THE INDIVIDUALS WE COME IN DIRECT CONTACT WITH AS WE ENGAGE IN THIRD-PARTY NONVIOLENT INTERVENTION WORK, BUT THERE ARE THOSE THAT ARE INDIRECTLY AFFECTED AS THEY PARTICIPATE IN OUR WEBINARS, READ ARTICLES AND BLOG POSTINGS ABOUT THE IMPACT THIS WORK IS HAVING - FURTHER REINFORCING THE CONCEPT THAT "NONVIOLENCE WORKS".
