THE GREAT LAKES CHILDREN'S MUSEUM PROVIDES A FOUNDATION FOR LIFE-LONG LEARNING THROUGH PLAY-BASED EXPLORATION.

THE MUSEUM PROVIDED HANDS-ON, OPEN ENDED, PLAY BASED LEARNING TO 4,116 CHILDREN AND CAREGIVERS FROM OCTOBER 2020 AND JUNE 2021 WITH ANOTHER 425 PARTICIPATING IN VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING. OVERALL, AFTER REOPENING FROM THE PANDEMIC SHUTDOWN THE MUSEUM WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC FOR 568.5 HOURS AND OFFERED 128 HOURS OF VIRTUAL PROGRAMS. WE RESTARTED FACE-TO-FACE PROGRAMS THROUGH THE KIDS CRAFT LAB AND STORYTIME ADVENTURES SERIES MID-JUNE 2021. WE ALSO CONTINUED MOVING OUR POWER OF PLAY STORE OPERATION TO THE WEB AND CONTINUED WITH OUR REALIGNMENT OF ITEMS FEATURED IN THE STORE WITH OUR EXHIBITS AND PROGRAMS. THE MOBILE MUSEUM WHICH WAS LAUNCHED DURING THE 2020 SUMMER OFFERED HANDS-ON LEARNING IN AN OUTDOOR, POP-UP FORMAT THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER SERVING APPROXIMATELY 40 FAMILIES WITH ACTIVITIES RANGING FROM OWL PELLET DISSECTION TO KITE MAKING TO NATURE SCAVENGER HUNTS.
