THE NEIGHBORHOOD ASSISTANCE MINISTRY (NAM) PROVIDES EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO THE RESIDENTS OF LEELANAU COUNTY, INCLUDING HOUSING, TRANSPORTATION, UTILITIES, MEDICAL, GASOLINE, AND OTHER EMERGENCY NEEDS.
THE FOOD PANTRY PROVIDED MEAT, CHEESE, EGGS, AND OTHER PROTEINS ALONG WITH DAIRY, FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLES AND DRY GOODS.
BLESSINGS IN A BACKPACK PROGRAM PROVIDES BAGS FILLED WITH HEALTHY FOOD FOR THE WEEKEND TO CHILDREN THAT ARE AT RISK OF GOING HUNGRY. ADDITIONALLY, BAGS OF FOOD FOR MIGRANT CHILDREN ATTENDING SUMMER SCHOOL WERE PROVIDED.
THE BABY PANTRY PROVIDES DIAPERS, SHAMPOO, CREAMS, AND CLOTHING FOR CHILDREN UNDER 5 YEARS OLD. SAMARITANS' CLOSET IS A RESALE SHOP, SELLING ITEMS DONATED BY THE COMMUNITY - CLOTHES, SHEETS, AND BEDDING, HOUSEWARES, ETC. THE PROFITS ARE THEN DISTRIBUTED TO PEOPLE IN NEED IN LEELANAU COUNTY.
