WE ADVOCATE AND FACILITATE THE DEVELOPMENT OF A NETWORK OF MULTIPURPOSE RECREATIONAL TRAILS IN NORTHERN LOWER MICHIGAN. CURRENTLY THERE ARE 325 MILES OF TRAIL IN OUR INVENTORY AND MOST ARE CLASSIFIED AS "IMPROVED."

2021 ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDE:PROVIDED TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO LOCAL TRAIL COMMITTEES FOR THE BURT LAKE TRAIL, BELLAIRE TO CENTRAL LAKE TRAIL, LITTLE TRAVERSE WHEELWAY, BOYNE CITY TO CHARLEVOIX TRAIL, AND THE NORTH WESTERN STATE TRAIL.CONTINUED COLLABORATION WITH TART TRAILS OF TRAVERSE CITY ON THE NAKWEMA TRAILWAY (FORMERLY KNOWN AS TRAVERSE CITY TO CHARLEVOIX TRAIL), SUCCESSFULLY PUTTING THE FIRST TRAIL SEGMENT OUT TO BID.HELPED LITTLEFIELD TOWNSHIP SECURE DNR TRUST FUND GRANT TO IMPROVE THE NORTH WESTERN STATE TRAIL.OPENED A NEW SECTION OF THE BURT LAKE TRAIL, COMPLETING THE SEPARATED TRAIL AROUND THE LAKE.WELCOMED AND GUIDED OVER 1000 VISITORS TO TRAILS FROM OUR REGIONAL TRAIL CENTER. CONTINUED TO PROVIDE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO THE MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES FOR MAINTENANCE ISSUES ON MDNR TRAILS.PROVIDED TRAIL MAINTENANCE WORK CREWS FOR EMMET COUNTY TO CLEAN WINTER DEBRIS OFF THE TRAILS AND AS NEEDED THROUGHOUT THE SEASON.RELAUNCHED OUR FESTIVAL OF RACES HALF MARATHON/10K/5K ON THE LITTLE TRAVERSE WHEELWAY.
