THE MSHDA ESG ADDS SHORT- AND MEDIUM-TERM RENTAL ASSISTANCE AND SERVICES TO RAPIDLY RE-HOUSE HOMELESS PEOPLE, AND PLACES GREATER EMPHASIS ON HELPING PEOPLE QUICKLY REGAIN STABILITY IN PERMANENT HOUSING AFTER EXPERIENCING A HOUSING CRISIS AND/OR HOMELESSNESS.
THE HMIS PROVIDES COMMUNITIES WITH VALUABLE DIRECTION AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE RESOURCES ON STRATEGIES TO COLLECT INFORMATION ON HOMELESS PERSONS. HMIS IMPLEMENTATION PRESENTS COMMUNITIES WITH AN OPPORTUNITY TO RE-EXAMINE HOW HOMELESS SERVICES ARE PROVIDED IN THEIR COMMUNITY AND TO MAKE INFORMED DECISIONS, AND DEVELOP APPROPRIATE ACTION STEPS.
THE CDBG ENTITLEMENT PROGRAM ALLOCATES ANNUAL GRANTS TO LARGE CITIES AND URBAN COUNTIES TO DEVELOP VIABLE COMMUNITIES BY PROVIDING DECENT HOUSING, A SUITABLE LIVING ENVIRONMENT, AND OPPORTUNITIES TO EXPAND ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES, PRINCIPALLY FOR LOW- AND MODERATE-INCOME PERSONS.
