EXTERNAL FUNDING: HWMC'S MAIN PROGRAM IS TO FUND PROJECTS THAT BENEFIT THE COMMUNITY. REQUESTS ARE EVALUATED FOR HOW THEY WILL FULFILL THIS MISSION. THERE IS NO DIRECT COST FOR THIS EVALUATION AS ALL ACTIVITIES ARE PERFORMED BY VOLUNTEER MEMBERS BUT THIS IS OUR PRIMARY OBJECTIVE DURING MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS AND THROUGHOUT VARIOUS FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES. OVER THE PAST FISCAL YEAR WE APPROVED 19 PROJECTS FOR A TOTAL OF $99,380. WE GAVE $60K FOR OUTDOOR EXERCISE EQUIP AT A CITY PARK, $14,231 FOR PUBLIC SAFETY EQUIP, $6K TO RESURFACE PICKLE BALL COURT, $2,400 FOR RAIN BARRELS AND RECYCLE BINS, $2K FOR TEACHER GRANTS, $1,120 FOR HIGH SCHOOL ROBOTICS CLUB, AND OVER $11K FOR RECURRING CITY ACTIVITIES SUCH AS THE 4TH OF JULY FESTIVITIES
INTERNAL MEMBERSHIP ACTIVITIES: THIS PROGRAM REPRESENTS MEMBERSHIP DUES AND ASSESSMENTS RELATED TO MEMBERSHIP ACTIVITIES. AS OF THE END OF THE FISCAL YEAR WE HAD 132 ACTIVE VOLUNTEER MEMBERS. ON AVERAGE OUR MONTHLY MEETINGS HOST 45 MEMBERS IN WHICH WE DISCUSS HWMC BUSINESS AND EVALUATE AND VOTE ON FUNDING REQUESTS. IN ADDITION TO MONTHLY MEETINGS WE ENGAGE IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES BY THE MEMBERS INCLUDING A SOFTBALL GAME WITH MEMBERS OF THE CITY PUBLIC SAFETY DEPT. AND THE CITY'S TEEN COUNCIL. THESE PROGRAM ACTIVITIES ALSO INCLUDE MEMBERSHIP ACTIVITIES IN WHICH MEMBERS PAY FOR EVENTS AND SOCIAL ACTIVITIES FOR THEMSELVES AND FAMILIES
