Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
WE PROMOTE A PASSION FOR AVIATION THROUGH OWNERSHIP, LEASE AND MAINTENANCE OF A SMALL FLEET OF AIRCRAFT, AND WITH THAT FLEET, WE PROVIDE PILOT TRAINING, FLIGHT INSTRUCTION AND FLYING TIME TO OUR MEMBERS.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
IN 2022, THE MICHIGAN FLYERS OPERATED ELEVEN CESSNA AIRCRAFT, FOR NEARLY 10,000 HOURS OF FLIGHT TIME. WITH MEMBERSHIP NUMBERING IN THE HUNDREDS, ALONG WITH INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR CFIS, WE SAW DOZENS OF MEMBERS ACHIEVE RATINGS, FROM PRIVATE PILOT TO INSTRUMENT/COMMERCIAL/CFI. THE CLUB MAINTAINED AN EXCELLENT SAFETY RECORD, AND WEATHERED SUPPLY CHAIN CRUNCHES AFFECTING OIL FILTERS AND ENGINE OVERHAULS. THROUGH A NATIONWIDE SHOCK IN FUEL COSTS, THE CLUB CONTINUED ITS EMPHASIS ON AFFORDABILITY, MAKING AVIATION ACCESSIBLE TO THOSE WHO COULDN'T OTHERWISE ACCESS IT. OUR ACTIVITIES WERE LARGELY SUPPORTED THROUGH VOLUNTEER ACTIVITY, INCLUDING A GROUP WHICH MET WEEKLY TO CLEAN AIRCRAFT AND HANGARS. WE GATHERED FOR A NUMBER OF EVENTS, INCLUDING COOKOUTS AND MONTHLY MEMBER MEETINGS, WITH GUEST SPEAKERS PRESENTING ON TOPICS OF AVIATION SAFETY AND OPERATIONS. MANY MEMBERS ORGANIZED AD-HOC TRIPS IN CLUB AIRCRAFT TO DESTINATIONS ACROSS THE COUNTRY, AND SEVERAL TO THE OSHKOSH AIRVENTURE FLY-IN IN WISCONSIN. AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE WAS ACCOMPLISHED BY PARTTIME STAFF, AND SEVERAL LOCAL MAINTENANCE OPERATORS.
