UNDER A COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT WITH THE US FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE'S PARTNERS FOR FISH AND WILDLIFE PROGRAM, GRASSLANS CHARITABLE FOUNDATION SERVES AS THE FISCAL AGENT FOR THEIR ON-THE-GROUND LANDSCAPE/HABITAT CONSERVATION PROJECTS THAT BENEFIT SPECIES OF CONCERN ON PRIVATE LAND IN NEW MEXICO AND TEXAS.
TO ENSURE THE PROTECTION AND CONTINUITY OF HABITAT FOR THE LESSER PRAIRIE-CHICKEN (A CANDIDATE SPECIES FOR FEDERAL ENDANGERED STATUS) AND OTHER GRASSLAND WILDLIFE, GRASSLANS CHARITABLE FOUNDATION PURCHASED 2400 ACRES OF GRASSLAND TO PROVIDE CONNECTIVITY BETWEEN SOME NEW MEXICO GAME COMMISSION LANDS AND PRIVATE LAND THAT IS MANAGED TO PRIORITIZE ITS WILDLIFE HABITAT VALUES.
