TO PROMOTE ECONOMIC AND EMOTIONAL SELF-DETERMINATION FOR WOMEN AND FAMILIES, REGARDLESS OF GENDER IDENTITY OR EXPRESSION. INDIVIDUALS IN TRANSITION HAVE ACCESS TO LOW-COST HELP FROM A THERAPIST, JOB COACH, DIVORCE SPECIALIST, PHYSICIAN, FAMILY LAW ATTORNEY, OR FINANCIAL ADVISER. WHEN WOMEN HAVE THE TOOLS TO ASSERT THEIR ECONOMIC AND EMOTIONAL STRENGTHS, FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES ALSO THRIVE.

IN 2021, 59 VOLUNTEERS CONTRIBUTED A TOTAL 9,443 HOURS. MANY OF OUR VOLUNTEERS - CLINICAL SUPERVISORS, FAMILY ATTORNEYS, CAREER COACH, AND FINANCIAL ADVISORS, HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH OUR CLIENTS AND INTERNS FOR A DECADE OR MORE. EACH YEAR, 18-23 GRADUATE STUDENT INTERNS IN COUNSELING AND SOCIAL WORK PROVIDE 16-24 HOURS/WEEK OF COUNSELING FOR PEOPLE WHO WOULD OTHERWISE BE UNABLE TO AFFORD THERAPY. IN EXCHANGE FOR THEIR LABOR, THERAPIST-INTERNS BENEFIT FROM 4.5 HOURS OF WEEKLY CONSULTATIONS WITH AN EXPERIENCED MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL, INCLUDING AN HOUR OR MORE OF ONE- ON-ONE COACHING. WOMEN'S CENTER CLIENTS ALSO BENEFIT FROM THE PARTICIPATION OF UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN PEDIATRIC RESIDENTS, WHO VOLUNTEER FOR OUR MONTHLY "ASK A DOC" FEATURE AS PART OF OUR MOMS-AND-INFANTS SUPPORT GROUP, MOMSHARE.
