TECHNICAL SKILL TRAINING, CAREER READINESS, AND MENTORSHIP FOR UNDERSERVED YOUNG ADULTS HELPING LAUNCH THEIR CAREERS IN TECHNOLOGY.

I.C.STARS DELIVERED 1,000 HOURS OF PROJECT-BASED TRAINING TO 75 UNDERSERVED ADULTS. THEY GAINED IN-DEMAND CODING, CAREER READINESS, AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS, ALONG WITH A PROFESSIONAL NETWORK. 88% OF GRADUATES SECURED JOBS IN TECHNOLOGY AS A RESULT OF THE TRAINING, RESULTING IN AN INITIAL ANNUAL EARNINGS INCREASE OF APPROXIMATELY 175%. I.C.STARS INSTRUCTORS, CASE MANAGERS, INDUSTRY PARTNERS, AND APPROXIMATELY 700 VOLUNTEERS CONTRIBUTED TO THIS OUTCOME. ADDITIONAL PARTICIPANT SUPPORTS INCLUDED EMERGENCY FUNDS, INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP COUNSELING, AND NEW WORKSHOPS AROUND SELF-ADVOCACY AND THE VIRTUAL WORKPLACE.I.C.STARS PROVIDED SUPPORT FOR 80 RECENT GRADUATES AND ALUMNI. THIS INCLUDED EMPLOYING 11 GRADUATES THROUGH I.C.STARS' SOCIAL STAFFING ENTERPRISE. AS PART OF THIS SERVICE, I.C.STARS PROVIDED ONGOING CHECK-INS WITH GRADUATE TALENT AS WELL AS THEIR MANAGERS. RECENT GRADUATES ALSO RECEIVED ONGOING CASE MANAGEMENT, COUNSELING SERVICES, CONTINUING EDUCATION SUPPORT - INCLUDING INDUSTRY CREDENTIALS AND DEGREE PROGRAMS THROUGH I.C.STARS PARTNERSHIP WITH INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY.I.C.STARS HELPED BUILD THE INTELLECTUAL AND SOCIAL CAPITAL OF PARTICIPANTS AND ALUMNI BY HOSTING NINE VIRTUAL CONVENINGS, ATTENDED BY APPROXIMATELY 950 INDIVIDUALS. EVENTS INCLUDED A SERIES FEATURING I.C.STARS ALUMNI IN CONVERSATION WITH LEADERS SUCH AS DR. JANE GOODALL AND FLINT WATER CRISIS ACTIVIST DR. MONA HANNA-ATTISHA. I.C.STARS HOSTED AN INTERACTIVE EVENT ABOUT DR. KING'S LEGACY, SOCIAL JUSTICE AND TECHNOLOGY AS A TOOL FOR SOCIAL CHANGE, FOR CHILDREN AND PARENTS IN THE I.C.STARS COMMUNITY. OTHER EVENTS IN CHICAGO AND MILWAUKEE INCLUDED A PANEL OF CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICERS AND TEAM OF I.C.STARS LEARNERS DISCUSSING THE TECH SOLUTION THEY DEVELOPED, AN EVENT CENTERED AROUND THE THEME OF "SUPERHERO DUOS" OF CIOS AND I.C.STARS ALUMNI, AND OTHER EVENTS FOCUSED ON NONTRADITIONAL TALENT AND THE INTERSECTION OF TECHNOLOGY AND EQUITY.
