THE SOUTH BELOIT HISTORICAL SOCIETY OWNS, OPERATES AND MAINTAINS THE BUSHNELL-WHEELER HOME, AN HISTORIC 1856 SITE THAT WAS THE FIRST SOUTH BELOIT HOME. WE ARE AN ALL VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION. ALL FUNDS ARE USED TO RESTORE AND MAINTAIN THE HOME, THE GROUNDS, AND A REPLICA OF THE ORIGINAL BARN. THE HOME HOUSES AN AREA MUSEUM AND MEETING ROOM AND IS OPEN TO LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS FOR MEETINGS, TOURS AND EVENTS. APPROXIMATELY 900 VISITORS WENT THROUGH THE HOME THIS YEAR. THIS WAS APPROXIMATELY HALF THE NORMAL NUMBER OF VISITORS DUE TO THE PANDEMIC.
