2023 REGION EVENTS:REGIONAL EVENTS CONTINUE TO GROW ANNUALLY. IN 2023, REGIONS OFFERED 133 COMPETITIONS IN 18 SPORTS WITH 24,376 PARTICIPANTS. THE NUMBER OF ESPORTS TOURNAMENTS INCREASED TO 98 IN 2023 AT REGION AND STATE LEVELS. YOUNG ATHLETES INCREASED TO 1,645 AND PEER PARTNERS INCREASED TO 3,649 AND THERE WERE 33 YOUNG ATHLETE CULMINATING EVENTS. HEALTHY ATHLETE INITIATIVES CONTINUE TO GROW AT REGIONAL EVENTS, PROMOTING HEALTHY EATING OPTIONS FOR ATHLETES AND THEIR FAMILIES.
UNIFIED CHAMPION SCHOOLS:IN 2023 UNIFIED CHAMPION SCHOOLS SERVED OVER 300 SCHOOLS PROVIDING PROGRAMMING OPPORTUNITIES IN 3 COMPONENT AREAS INCLUDING UNIFIED SPORTS, YOUTH LEADERSHIP AND WHOLE SCHOOL ENGAGEMENT. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR WE SAW THE RESULTS OF TWO SUCCESSFUL STATE-WIDE DIGITAL ENGAGEMENT EVENTS: THE HYBRID YOUTH ACTIVATION SUMMIT AND THE END OF THE PLAYVS UNIFIED ESPORTS LEAGUES. UNIFIED SPORTS COMPETITIONS WERE HOSTED ON VARIOUS LEVELS FOR DANCE, ESPORTS, BASKETBALL, SOCCER AND TRACK AND FIELD. COLLEGE INITIATIVES AND INVOLVEMENT HAS INCREASED AND THE GROWTH OF THE COLLEGE INCLUSION COUNCIL HAS MADE A HUGE IMPACT. YOUTH ACTIVATION AND YOUTH LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES ACROSS THE STATE HAVE CONTINUED TO DEVELOP AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT HAS BEEN OFFERED ON ALL LEVELS. TWO VERY SUCCESSFUL SCHOOL WIDE / COMMUNITY WIDE CAMPAIGNS WERE OFFERED WITH RESPECT WEEK AND NATIONAL INCLUSIVE SCHOOLS WEEK. UNIFIED BAGS AND BOWLING WERE INTRODUCED AS A NEW PROSPECTIVE SPORTS IN 2023.
2023 STATE EVENTS :2023 SHOWED CONTINUED GROWTH IN PARTICIPATION NUMBERS AT THE 13 STATE EVENTS HELD. 6,268 ATHLETES, 132 UNIFIED PARTNERS AND 2,266 COACHES PARTICIPATED IN STATE EVENTS. HEALTHY ATHLETE INITIATIVES CONTINUE TO GROW AT STATE EVENTS, PROMOTING HEALTHY EATING OPTIONS FOR ATHLETES AND THEIR FAMILIES.
