THE ADMIRAL AT THE LAKE (THE ADMIRAL) IS A NON-PROFIT CONTINUING CARE RETIREMENT COMMUNITY, OR LIFE PLAN COMMUNITY, IN CHICAGO, ILLINOIS CONSISTING OF 196 INDEPENDENT LIVING APARTMENTS, 39 ASSISTED LIVING SUITES, 17 MEMORY CARE UNITS, AND 36 PRIVATE SKILLED NURSING BEDS. CONSTRUCTION OF THIS NEW BUILDING WAS SUBSTANTIALLY COMPLETED IN 2012. ON DECEMBER 31, 2023, THERE WERE 188 INDEPENDENT LIVING UNITS OCCUPIED FOR 96% OCCUPANCY. IN 2023, THE ADMIRAL FULFILLED ITS MISSION AND CHARITABLE PURPOSE BY PROVIDING CARE AND SERVICES TO OVER 450 RESIDENTS AGES OF 62 OR BETTER THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. THE ADMIRAL OFFERS A COMPREHENSIVE FITNESS AND WELLNESS PROGRAM THAT INCLUDES A FITNESS CENTER, INDOOR HEATED POOL, AND 27 FITNESS CLASSES PER WEEK WITH ADDITIONAL ONE ON ONE TRAINING PROGRAMS WITH THE FITNESS COORDINATOR.THERE IS A DIETICIAN WHO PROVIDES COUNSELING ON RESIDENT MEALS AND DIETS. A MYRIAD OF SOCIAL AND RECREATION ACTIVITIES ARE AVAILABLE TO ALL RESIDENTS, INCLUDING A CREATIVE ARTS STUDIO, GARDEN TERRACES, LIBRARY, MEDIA ROOM/THEATER, AND LOUNGE AMONG OTHERS.RESIDENTS ENTERING INTO THE INDEPENDENT LIVING APARTMENTS IN THE NEW LIFE PLAN COMMUNITY SIGN LIFE CARE RESIDENCY AGREEMENTS THAT CARRY THE PROMISE THAT THEIR CONTRACT WILL NOT BE TERMINATED FOR INSUFFICIENT FUNDS IN THE EVENT THE RESIDENT OUTLIVES THEIR ASSETS OR INCOME. IN 2023, THE ADMIRAL PROVIDED $ 136,944 IN DIRECT SUBSIDY AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR ROOM AND BOARD, MEDICAL EXPENSES, AND STIPENDS. FURTHER, THE ADMIRAL PLEDGED TO PAY CERTAIN MEDICAL AND OTHER COSTS FOR CERTAIN RESIDENTS WHO HELD CERTAIN CONTRACTS.THE ADMIRAL AT THE LAKE, ALONG WITH ITS STAFF AND RESIDENTS, IS DEEPLY COMMITTED TO SUPPORTING THE WELL-BEING OF THE SURROUNDING NEIGHBORHOOD AND COMMUNITY. THROUGH VARIOUS EDUCATIONAL, CHARITABLE, AND COMMUNITY-FOCUSED INITIATIVES, THE ADMIRAL HAS MADE A MEANINGFUL IMPACT. THE ORGANIZATION HOSTED LUNCHEONS FOR NEARLY 100 ELEMENTARY STUDENTS AND TEACHERS FROM GOUDY SCHOOL, WHILE ALSO PARTNERING WITH ST. IGNATIUS PREP TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH TUTORING OPPORTUNITIES INVOLVING RESIDENTS. THE ADMIRAL REGULARLY OPENS ITS FACILITIES TO THE COMMUNITY, HOSTING A LOCAL WOMEN'S BOOK CLUB AND SERVING AS A POLLING LOCATION FOR THE CHICAGO BOARD OF ELECTIONS. IN ADDITION, RESIDENTS AND STAFF HAVE COLLECTIVELY CONTRIBUTED THOUSANDS OF VOLUNTEER HOURS TO LOCAL CAUSES, INCLUDING READING TO GOUDY SCHOOL STUDENTS AND PARTICIPATING IN THE WALK TO END ALZHEIMER'S, RAISING FUNDS FOR THE ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION. THE ADMIRAL ALSO PLAYS A HANDS-ON ROLE IN NEIGHBORHOOD SUPPORT, MANAGING SNOW REMOVAL IN THE COMMUNAL ALLEY BEHIND ITS BUILDING AND ALONG NEARBY SIDEWALKS. MONTHLY DONATION COLLECTIONS BENEFIT BOTH RESIDENTS AND THE BROADER COMMUNITY, WHILE A WINTER WEAR DRIVE RESULTED IN OVER 250 ITEMS OF CLOTHING BEING DONATED TO CORNERSTONE COMMUNITY OUTREACH, A LOCAL NONPROFIT. THE ADMIRAL'S 'TRASH TO TREASURE' PROGRAM OFFERS A QUARTERLY OPPORTUNITY FOR STAFF AND RESIDENTS TO EXCHANGE OR DONATE UNNEEDED ITEMS TO EACH OTHER AND TO CORNERSTONE COMMUNITY OUTREACH. AS AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF SEVERAL LOCAL CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE, THE ADMIRAL PROVIDES SPACE FOR EDUCATIONAL EVENTS AND NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES, DEMONSTRATING ITS DEDICATION TO LOCAL PARTNERSHIPS. FURTHERMORE, THE ADMIRAL PROUDLY SUPPORTS UPTOWN PRIDE ACTIVITIES, EMPHASIZING ITS ONGOING COMMITMENT TO INCLUSIVITY AND THE ENRICHMENT OF THE LOCAL COMMUNITY.
