MERCY HOSPITAL AND MEDICAL CENTER (MHMC) IN CHICAGO, ILLINOIS IS A 373-BED ACUTE CARE FACILITY WITH ITS PRIMARY MARKET IN THE SOUTH AND SOUTHWEST SIDE OF CHICAGO AND ADJACENT SUBURBS. IN ADDITION TO THE MAIN FACILITY WHICH IS LOCATED MINUTES FROM CHICAGO'S LOOP, MERCY HOSPITAL HAS A NETWORK OF HOSPITAL OWNED PRIMARY CARE CENTERS, PRIVATE PHYSICIAN OFFICES, AND A NUMBER OF SATELLITES LOCATED THROUGHOUT ITS SERVICE AREA.MHMC WAS FOUNDED IN 1852 AND HOLDS THE PRIVILEGE OF BEING CHICAGO'S FIRST CHARTERED TEACHING HOSPITAL. MHMC ENJOYS AFFILIATIONS WITH MAJOR ACADEMIC PROGRAMS AND CENTERS IN CHICAGO, INCLUDING THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS, UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO, AND ITS SISTER TRINITY HEALTH FACILITY, LOYOLA UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER.
